Renew domain (ENOM) : There was an error getting the current expiration date.

I moved to enom via whmcs and today, when trying to renew a domain name,

i got the following error in whmcs :

There was an error getting the current expiration date. Please try again at a later time.

Although the message seems clear enough, i can not understand what is the problem causing that.

Please, this is urgent, domain expires tomorrow.

I'm getting this same message on a domain I'm trying to renew (through eNom). The only thing that changed recently was I upgraded to WHMCS v4.

Is this a message that comes from the registrar or something WHMCS generates as a result of being unable to connect to the registrar or look up the expiration date somewhere?

If it's a temporary problem with the registrar, no biggie, but if there's something wrong with my WHMCS configuration, I need to fix it.

Thanks!

This is an old thread, but this happens to us very frequently as well. I'm getting tired of it and figured I'd look for others with the same problem here. Has anyone figured out a solution for this? It's intermittent, but happens probably every other day for us.

It's caused by several things ...

1. the *registry* doing maintenance - the've all been doing things for a week now for the IDN domains - pir/org was down for ~2hours yesterday

2. timing out connecting to the enom api server - happens *your* connectivity provider is bottlenecked

3. api calls not returning anything - happens when they're doing maitenance or have b0rked something

4. attempting to renew after expiry date (when dates wrong in whmcs)

It'll create a to-do item when it happens - just make sure someone looks at the to-do list ;D

It happens too frequently to be solely attributable to the above. I just manually renewed a domain using the renew button in the whmcs admin, and it was fine. I did the same for a domain that the cron job couldn't renew, and I get the error - have tried several times and the same result. So, the API is working fine, they're not doing maintenance, and yet a particular domain consistently returns this error. (And no, the domain in question is not expired.)
