saadsalman
Hello All! I am thinking to setup WHMCS for my reseller account and while configuring the trial account I got to know that we have to set the cron to 1 job per day. My query is that what happens if the server is down at the time when cron had to run? How would then the missed out invoices, reminders and stuff be automatically resent? What happens when we run the cron twice a day? Would the invoices be sent twice? or the script has any check on the sent invoices so that they are not sent again? Secondly, is there any way to get discounted licenses or to pay in a few installments for those who can't afford to spend $249 in a go? Do you have any promotions running on? I am interested only in an owned license, unbranded is my aim but can't afford even a branded one with the powered by line! Regards, Saad

WHMCS CEO Matt Posted August 31, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted August 31, 2008 You need to setup the cron to run once per day as instructed. If for any reason it misses a day, on the next run it will catch up with any invoices that are due to be created. We don't have any promotions running at the current time. I was concerned that if the server is down then may the invoices are missed out. By the way isn't it better to put a check on the sent invoices so that they are not resent and run the cron every 6 or 8 hours? that way we wont need to delay the invoices by 24 hours in case of outage? Secondly, can you add me to some mailing list on which I can get promotional emails? I am interested to get the license as soon as possible.. chickendippers
There isn't one as far as I know. The WHMCS prices have remained at their current level for as long as I have used the system. Do bear in mind that WHMCS is significantly cheaper than anything else on the market.

May be sir, but Matt said: "We don't have any promotions running at the current time". So I hope to see some promotion soon!
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted September 1, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted September 1, 2008 Invoices are not sent twice if you run the cron more than once in a single day. It's only the payment reminder emails for overdue invoices that will go out twice. Matt
Stax
Quick question to throw out here, I was thinking about running the cron 3-4 times per day. Will this have any noticeable performance issues if they are run near a peak usage time? Also, Matt said above that the payment reminder emails would be sent out twice...my question here is why? (and is there any way to stop that?) I don't want to send a payment reminder for the same day 3-4 times that day...not really understanding why it would even be setup to do that...
chickendippers
Because the cron is only designed to be run every 24 hours.
WisTex
The cron job checks to see if an invoice has already been created. but does not check if a reminder has already been sent.
