CDG Commerce?

So does the money you get from CDG go directly into your business checking account or is it an online merchant account that you have to transfer to/from your bank account?

We're currently using PayPal Website Payments Pro so I'm not sure if it's similar/different.

I was using linkpoint/cardservices. mostly because it was fairly reasonable, easy to integrate and was already integrated with zencart which many of my hosting cuostomers use.

Their rates kept going up and up. Last year they charged me out of the blue a $75 ?annual compliance fee." This year they said it would be $125.00

That's when I decided to shop around.

Thru zencart I found National Bankcard Systems. Supposed to have a 19.95 monthly gateway fee for auth.net and $20 a month statement fee. I applied with them and never heard another word, no email or nothing. Zilch, nada. Next thing I know a few weeks later I noticed a charged for $35.00 on my bank account which I watch like a hawk, saying auth.net and a charge for $30 for bankcard processing. I called my bank to get the details and got the phone numbers related to the charges. Well, after 4 hours on the phone, 8 phone calls and lots of runaround I found out that my application with NBS had been "approved" weeks before (instantly on the spot it seems) and those charges where related to my first month fees. "Oh, hey, thanks for telling me..I wouldn't even had of known my merchant number if I hadn't of through detective work called the actual bank that does the processing for you guys..."

As can be seen they were higher than stipulated on the application. And here I was "approved" and didn't even know it. I asked them why they hadn't called me. They said "We make our first call to you after you make your first charge thru the system."

"How I am I supposed to know I have your servce?"

"We sent you an email."

"Funny, I get all my other emails INCLUDING the one you just sent me 2 seconds ago with the form I need to complete and fax back in order to close this account, but didn't get that one.. how odd.."

How am I supposed to use a service I don't even know I have?

Meanwhile, I had already applied with CDG and have processed a considerable amount of transactions with them over the last few weeks. Plus they have a module that quickly integrates with zencart which is a plus.

I have to say, in comparison to what i had before with card services I LOVE the new processor. Rates are fair. $10 monthly fee and no gateway fee. No contract to worry about so can cancel anytime without recourse. Money is in my account in two days not 3-4 like with linkpoint. Their mailed receipt emailed to the customer is very pretty unlike my predecessor. I get a nice email saying when my batch is sent up which linkpoint never sent. Overall very pleased with the experience so far. I could hug them. And hope that attitude doesnt change. (Ever notice how you really get to liking something than it gets all fubard?)

The application process was a little sluggish and seemingly unfriendly, but other than that the processing end seems great so it was worth the hassle. So I recommend them highly based upon my experience.

Needless to say I cancelled the NBS and told them I was going to report them to my state AG (and am) for their slamming me the way they did and then charging beyond the agreement to boot.

Just my 2 cents. :|
