ESolutions
Alright, so heres the deal; Im using Enom to resell domain names and I dont want to use the automatic registration for one I have to pay $100 and second I hear there is alot of fraud in automated domains. So, how do I go about setting up WHMCS so I can get there order for the domain they want and manually buy the domain for them? Do I put it on to my account? If so how do I link it to WHMCS so they see how to change there name servers and etc? Do I create a new Enom account for them and link it in? If anyone has experience on running an enom account how do you manually set all this up?
chickendippers
eNom charge a setup fee? Granted it's been so long since we signed up I can't remember, but I'm sure you'd be able to find an ETP who doesn't. There are other registrars (Directi for example) who certainly don't charge a setup fee. You can simply use the "Email" domain registrar module. This will email you when an order is placed so you can register it manually.
ESolutions
Ah, the email option is what I was looking for. So in your opinion for me would it be best to get an email from the client with all of their information and then simply register there domain name under my enom account, but how would I link it so they can change setting in WHMCS?
chickendippers
I'm not sure if that's possible.
ESolutions
So how exactly do you setting up a domain without it being automated?
ESolutions
(If im using WHMCS)
MikeDVB
What we do is that we set the domain registrar to NONE for new orders and then once we review the order we change the registrar on their order and then accept the order and the domain gets ordered. This way we can review it, and still somewhat automate the process.
risrik
eNom has two different accounts though don't they? A regular one and a reseller account. You can't automate domain registering with the regular, free one. Once you upgrade to a reseller account, you have to load $100 on your account and then registering can be automated (either immediately or after authorizing it like MikeDVB mentioned). I have the free account at this point and when a domain request comes in (we just got it), we will manually log in and buy the domain for the customer. But you're right ESolutions, how do they get access to their domain because technically since you bought it for the customer, you have access to it. I guess you can just tell customers to contact you to change details on the domain. They're limited to simply seeing what domains they have in WHMCS.
sparky
Ah, the email option is what I was looking for. I think you missed the point!! In Admin > Configuration > Domain Registrars click on the Registrar Settings and select Email Then when someone orders a domain WHMCS will send you an email advising you of their details to be able to register the domain manually.
MikeDVB
I think you missed the point!! In Admin > Configuration > Domain Registrars click on the Registrar Settings and select Email Then when someone orders a domain WHMCS will send you an email advising you of their details to be able to register the domain manually. It should be noted that doing it this way also automatically fires off the "Your domain has been registered successfully" to the client, whether or not you have, or will be able to actually register the name. Imagine that a WHOIS discrepancy happens so they order a domain that's not available then they get an e-mail saying it was already registered... Then you have to explain to them why it was not really able to be registered ... I prefer not to do it that way and set the gateway to NONE and then check all orders for Domains. To each their own, and your mileage may vary.
WisTex
You can always change the e-mail template to say something different, however.
MikeDVB
You could, but I prefer to leave the "Your domain has been registered successfully" email intact so when it actually is registered they get the e-mail.
