Ioncube is a no go on my site

PureEvil

Question

Howdy all:

I read through the read me file and tried to install WHMCS on a shared hosting provider (Hostdime) that offers WHMCS for free, but here is the kicker, can't get it to work with IONCUBE.

I get the following error trying to install.

Site error: the file /home/irishos/public_html/h/install/install.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.

I've followed the directions and placed the IONCUBE folder where I was directed to, and still get the same error.

Anyone else using WHMCS on Hostdime shared servers? If so how did you get it to work with IONCUBE?

Thanks for any and all help.

Jayson

If they offer it for free, they should have things configured to handle it. May want to drop a note to them to resolve it.

Do they allow you to insert a custom PHP.INI file in your site? If so, you can call it through there. Here's a quick article on getting Ioncube to work on your site if your host allows you to use custom php.ini files:

Jayson,

We also had this problem installing our own server. Since WHMCS comes with IONCUBE it makes sense that it should work out of the gate, but the version WHMCS comes with is a 32-bit version and we have a 64-bit OS installed. Once we grabbed the 64-bit version and put it in the correct WHMCS directory, it started working perfectly. Maybe this is something you should look at as well.

Great point, I didn't think of that one, spent a good two hours trying everything else.

I receieved an email from the hosting provider stating they don't supply any support for third party apps, but it appears they have done something on their end because the system started working on its own.

I was able to complete the install by following the promps and all appears to be working great. The system is fast and looks great...

Once again thanks for the help

I've got the same problem, I've replaced the version of the ioncube loaders that came with WHMCS with the 64 bit version but I still get the same message -

Site error: the file /home/clients/public_html/install/install.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.

I've enabled dl() in the master php.ini and tried using the ioncube-loader-helper.php script to identify the problem.

It says - Warning: dl() [function.dl]: Temporary module name should contain only filename in /home/clients/public_html/ioncube/ioncube-loader-helper.php on line 411

I get the feeling that the "simple" method of using the runtime decoders in the specific site is going to be more painful than the "more difficult" option of installing the Ioncube decoders on my server in php.ini.

Lets hope so anyway.

I wouldn't give up on WHMCS just because your host hasn't configured the server correctly, or you haven't been able to get IonCube to work correctly with your host.

You may want to contact WHMCS and have them do the installation for you - it's fairly cheap from what I remember.

Certainly got some configuration issues if IonCube isn't loading, and even more issues if your host is not helping you resolve them!
