webfutura
Hi, Does anyone have any good suggestions for a combined merchant account/gateway for us here in the UK. I have looked at Secpay's Fasttrack, Worldpay and also Paypal Website Payments Pro. Having spoken to Matt, he's unsure whether the UK version of Website Payments Pro will work with the system, particularly in the case of recurring billing, which we would ideally like. I've gone through the forum's for ideas, but there's no real conclusive good or bad threads on what works best here in the UK. We don't currently have a merchant account with our bank, and looking at all the combined fees, the Paypal or Worldpay(with FuturePay) look to be the best solutions, although Worldpay still hold on to the cash for 4 weeks. Any help would be great...
penguin
We use Protx as our payment gateway. They have agreements with a number of UK merchant bank providers: http://www.protx.com/merchantaccounts.asp. WHMCS works very well with Protx too.
webfutura
Thanks for the reply on protx. I was hoping thatI could get feed back on a completely integrated solution, to keep monthly costs down
magga
I use paypal website payments pro and whilst I have not tried recurring billing, everything else seems to work ok.
chickendippers
We looked at Protox, but decided Worldpay would be cheaper, at least at the moment. It works very well and recurring payments are handled well; not perfectly, but better than any ofher billing system in the market.
othellotech
We've been a WorldPay partner for many years and setup a number of people with it - there are (frustrating) delays in getting it initially setup/approved, but after that it-just-works ;D
simplybe
We've been a WorldPay partner for many years and setup a number of people with it - there are (frustrating) delays in getting it initially setup/approved, but after that it-just-works ;D I agree with othellotech, worldpay provide a great service once they have approved you. I have used them for 4 years and never had an issue with them. works great with whmcs. It's always worth emailing worldpay or calling them, sometimes they give good discounts to get you to sign up. When i signed up i only paid half of what they were asking on their site + I got a lower transaction fee. Personally i would never use paypal. I don't trust them with my money and their dispute process and refunds are a joke. I know many other people use paypal and are happy with them, this is just my personal opinion based on my experience with them. You get what you pay for and worldpay offer good value in my opinion.
chickendippers
We offer Paypal mainly so we can service customers who don't have one of Worldpay's supported card types...or people without a card at all. We strongly recommend the use of Worldpay at all times if at-all possible.
mediademon
Hi We currently use Paypal Website Payments Pro... However, WHMCS doesn't hold the CVV number required by the Paypal Website Payments Pro API... It's illegal to hold the CVV number in your DB longer than the duration of the current transaction. So for reoccurring billing the two system's will not talk to each other and your users must login and pay each order manually online, bit of a tall order for monthly invoicing! I'm in pretty much the same boat here and looking for a better solution, a UK friendly payment gateway which does not require the CVV code to be supplied for reoccuring orders... Any help appreciated!
mediademon
Hi Can I ask, everyone seems to be recommending Worldpay, but which package? Worldpay, Worldpay Futurepay or Worldpay Invisible? Regards
chickendippers
WorldPay is for one off payments, Futurepay handles recurring payments where the customer enter their credit card details on the WorldPay site (and they hold the cc details). The payment pages can be 95% customised. We use this and it's very convenient. I believe Invisible is a system where the cc details are entered into WHMCS, although we don't use it, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
hostedweb
Hi Everyone, Im also looking for a merchant account, im tempted by Worldpay but have been told they hold on to your money for up to 6 weeks? Can anyone advise on this? Thanks
mediademon
I believe this is the case, there are other options out there, PayPal, SecPay, Protx... all better
simplybe
worldpay pay me 4 weeks in arrears, but i know this can be more depending on your credit status. After you have been with them a while you can ask them to reduce it. I have never had an issue with them holding the money. After the first 4 weeks you don't notice it and at least you know what your exact income is for the next 4 weeks. Paypal is certainly not better than worldpay, worldpay delay your money for 4 weeks, paypal may keep it for good ! http://paypalsucks.com/forums/showforum.php?fid=17
harrip
I've tried most the processors and use Worldpay. They are not the cheapest but I find them good. Everything is negotiable - try improving your payment terms after you've been with them a while both the % charged for credit card transactions and also the amount of time you have to wait for your money. Interestingly, you can now accept Paypal payments via Worldpay too which streamlines things.
JamieD
I just signed up with an optimal payments account. They handle setting up your merchant account and you pay all fees to optimal payments, they setup an Elavon merchant account for us. Haven't started using the gateway yet as I'm still setting some things up on my end but so far everything has been pretty good and their pricing is pretty competitive.
anthill
Hi Jamie, Did you ever get your Elavon merchant account and gateway properly integrated to WHMCS? If so, are you using Elavon's Virtual Merchant gateway? Thanks, Daniel.
XN-Matt
Worldpay here too... Started using them back in 2003 on a 4 week delay, but now down to a week - which is fine. Had our rates reduced many times so there is no incentive to swap. Also - they do support recurring transactions on Maestro cards and have worked with us to set this up on their invisible system when lot of merchants we reverting back to the (well, I think so) Futurepay system. Can't really fault them. Support has gotten better over the last 2-3 years too.
