BAJI26
ok I'm gonna create a site. I dont understand the other stuff about: configure your nameservers to call a script on all nxdomain requests to query your whmcs tbldomains, and to return the ip of your coming-soon site if there is a match
phenglai
You could just set up a site on its own and pre-configure your DNS www record to point to this site. Then there is no lookup. We have a default site that reads the url and puts it up on the page as a place holder. 1. Set up a site you want to point to 2. Configured default DNS www record to point to site in step 1. If your customer does not use your DNS, not much you can do but if you have DNS in your control this should work as well as the option alreafy provided in this thread.
Sitecenter
Even simpler than that. Create your page and call it index.htm and put it in the skeleton directory so that when the hosting account gets created that file will automatically be installed.
othellotech
Create your page and call it index.htm and put it in the skeleton directory so that when the hosting account Presuposes * you're using cpanel/whm * you're offering the "automagically" behind the scenes on a *domain* order

Ben-iNetFx
Been thinking about this - and for ENOM at least, it would be a cool option in the registrar settings to automatically setup the DNS www and @ A records to point to a specified IP (which you can then brand appropriately) - this would of course only work if the user was going with the default NS records for ENOM, but I've found most do ....
