webace
Hi Does anyone perhaps know if whmcs can handle a wildcard promotion code - for instance 1234* any number can be placed in the * field. Thanks in advance
Iceman
I doubt it... guess what would happen if someone just entered * Cheers, Paul
webace
well the actual idea is to be able to generate a number of promotion codes that can be entered once only instead of doing in manually
SageStone
I like this idea, I took it as offering unique promotion codes using the wildcards. Ex: X640TD[*][*][*][*] 25% off order Any number or letter combination could be entered for those four wildcards, but no more or no less than four can be entered unless it is setup to do so. The rest of the promotion code would need to be exact, the *'s can just have anything placed in them and work properly.
webace
Sage that's exactly what I am looking for
NetworkOfHosting.com
We would love this too. After months of wishing whmcs could do this and looking around, we settle with the bulk coupon creation of a package called "Amember". Excellent, but unfortunately not integrated with whmcs so we have to put our customers through a bit to make things work. NOH

Why didnt you spend a few hours and simply a webpage in PHP to create them in the coupons table in WHMCS ?
urevised
Again another modification to the promotions system that I feel is vital.
NetworkOfHosting.com
Why didnt you spend a few hours and simply a webpage in PHP to create them in the coupons table in WHMCS ? Hi. I have no one employed to program it, and though I'm very adept at installing scripts, my own PHP skills are close to zero. But I now own and plan to read: Porfessional PHP Web Services PHP and MySQL for Dummies Teach Yourself PHP in 24 hours
othellotech
Teach Yourself PHP in 24 hours Is the only one I've got on PHP, it got borrowed and has never been seen since It's always worth getting a quote from Matt @ WHMCS for anything custom that you need to add on to your billing setup ...
NetworkOfHosting.com
Is the only one I've got on PHP, it got borrowed and has never been seen since So perhaps I'll start with this one... before mine disappears. From my past programming experience (long ago), I imagine that what you'll learn in 24 hours would be a bit more than PHP programming terms and some PHP basics. From your recall, how much of this book would I have to read in order to be messing around with the whmcs? Thanks NOH
brianoz
I second the comment above on getting a quote from Matt and team, they'll often be able to do it faster and better, especially if you've not written any PHP before. The best book I've ever across for PHP is the Sitepoint book with a title like 'PHP and MySQL' by Kevin Yank. Written by a world class programmer, it's readable and understandable and leaves you with a solid basic grasp of PHP in a book that is about half the size of the others. It's goal is to teach you how to program, rather than teaching you lots of "facts" "about" PHP which in the end become overwhelming. It was the first book I read (and I read 3 before that one) that left me feeling I had a sense of how things worked together. Available from http://www.sitepoint.com (which coincidentally has their office just down the street here in Melbourne, which is nice because I've come to like their books!). Caveat: I'm a veteran hacker, with about 10 other languages, some of which I taught, so I may not be completely normal ;P
othellotech
From your recall, how much of this book would I have to read in order to be messing around with the whmcs I've been coding and designing for years, so it might vary, but i did "hours" about 6 through 10 one morning -that and looking at a couple of examples has been enough for what I need. More time is spent working out the relationships between the data, than actually knocking out any code itself.
