Customer can order more than one item at a time. Much more like a common cart than single orders.

Would you go to a checkout at a shop with each oindividual item?

Seriously, we want to encourage our customers to buy add-ons (Would you like fries with that?)

Order and on single page.

Keeps user happy and they always say that the order process was easy so we stick to it. We have added in the Custom Client Profile Fields an "Order process was?" with answers "Choose an option,Easy,Hard,Perfect,Could be better,Too long" and easy is always coming back.

Please note that we had a mywhmcs.com custom template that we have also push a bit further with more template tweak as the upgrade was flowing in.

But it seems that with the singlepage orderform, the customer cannot go back a step.

After they choose the "Payment method", they will have 3 buttons under "Your Order":

- Change product

- Change domain

- Change configurable options

It is maybe not a back button but at least it works very well. :)

Both have their uses. Cart is great for someone who is deciding to buy and might buy more than one thing or is already a customer and order is good for promotions targeted at one product (Focused message with no distractions). This will be especially true for those of us who use whmcs for things other than web hosting.
