How to build a custom product/service in WHMCS?

I want to offer customers the ability to build their own shared hosting plan by picking and choosing their options. I know it's possible to do this using 'configurable options', but I don't get how this connects to a whm package in cPanel WHM.

What would I set the various WHM options as and how?

meeven,

You would need to purchase the Configurable Hosting Add-on, found here: http://www.whmcs.com/configurablepackageaddon.php

Once purchased, you can setup configurable hosting packages and WHM can recognise them. Matt can explain in further detail.

Thank you, Dale Evans. I didn't realize that this addon might be the answer to my problem.

On looking closer, I see a few things that are not clear:

1.) I don't really need automatic provisioning and that seems to be just about the only additional thing this add on does. I could be wrong, but it seems everything else can be handled just by using the default 'configurable options' in WHMCS.

2.) The add on restricts the kind of configurable options fields one can have. This is different from the default 'configurable options' which lets you have pretty much whatever you want.

3.) Another thing that is not clear is whether this add-on can be used only for hosting or for any type of product or service.

So, I am curious about how this add-on is an improvement over the default configurable options for building a custom package.

This addon is for hosting related options, basically it automatically creates some fields and a new page, you could just use the configurable options. This can be used for servers too.

Yeah, it does seem I could do this with the default config options. Thank you.
