dordal
We've never been able to get emailed attachments to come through into tickets. The text of the email comes through, but the attachment is stripped. Do they come through for you? I've read some things on this board that suggest that is supposed to work.
brianoz
It has been broken for us until recently, when I saw an attached .pdf come through alright, so I'm not sure quite what the status is.
handsonwebhosting
We constantly get the attachments - I've not known of any issues personally here. We're using the latest version of WHMCS with no issues on the ticket attachments (as long as you define the attachments that you want to accept).
apollo1
You may want to check Configuration>General Settings>Support>Allowed File Attachment Types field. You should specify the file extension so it is allowed to come through as an attachment. If you already have that configured, check the file permissions of your attachments directory (should be 777).
brianoz
check the file permissions of your attachments directory (should be 777).Maybe - if you run suphp or phpsuexec, as you should if your WHMCS runs on a shared server, you won't need the 777. If you don't run under suphp, you're asking for trouble.
dordal
Would somebody mind sending the JPG image below (248K) into their ticket system via email? This attaches to the ticket fine when I load it via the client area, but doesn't come in if I send it via email. http://cdn-www.airliners.net/photos/photos/5/3/3/1312335.jpg Thanks!
scurrell
Can't get your jpg to show in our system. It appears to be attached, but when you try to open it, it won't. Same with almost all attachments coming into our support system.
dordal
would anybody else mind trying the JPG? I'm trying to figure out if this is a bug we should tell Matt about, or just something weird with our specific install. Thx!
Gears
Do you have .jpg,.txt,.docx,.html or jpg, txt, docx, html Without or without the periods/dots?
scurrell
Without or without the periods/dots? We have it "with". Couldn't see anywhere in the documentation that specified how it should be.
PPH
What version are you having problems with? We had problems with earlier versions, but lately single attachments come through OK. Seems to choke with more than one though?
scurrell
What version are you having problems with? We had problems with earlier versions, but lately single attachments come through OK. PPH
Only problem we have seen with 3.6 is multiple attachments do not come through. You may need to check your setting in general configuration>>support departments and make sure extensions you want to receive are entered. They need to include the period as in .gif,.jpg etc. Also make sure your attachments folder is wrtiteable. 777 unles you are running SUphp or phpsuexec. Does the attachment work submitting via the client area? And what email client is it not working with? EDIT: reading back over your previous replies sounds like you are getting the attachments, they are just corrupted. We had this problem with earlier versions. You may want to open a ticket and have Matt take a look. When this occured it was only if wee sent the attachment via Outlook.
webhservices
I too am having this problem. Attachments work when uploaded through client area. By email though, they aren't coming through. We're running WHMCS v 3.6, using Evolution to send the email with attachment...
chickendippers
We don't receive attachments when they're emailed. But when the customer uses the client area it works perfectly.
dordal
PPH- So, to confirm, when you email an attachment to your support address, it comes through as an attachment to the ticket that is created? D
XN-Matt
Just another semi-related note. If the attachment is emailed via Mac Mail.app - the attachment will never make it onto the ticket. This is apparently the way it works for whatever reason.
webhservices
My SSL Authority mailed an SSL Cert to my support email. The Cert wasn't attached to the ticket created. I have sent emails from Evolution (on Linux) and Outlook Express (MS XP) and Windows Mail (Vista) and they aren't coming through as attached to the ticket either. Any ideas on when this will be fixed? OR if this is even a problem? Maybe I have something setup wrong..
PPH
PPH- So, to confirm, when you email an attachment to your support address, it comes through as an attachment to the ticket that is created? D Yes, it opens a ticket and appears in my list. I have tested it with Outlook and a couple others with success for a single attachment. Multiple attachments do not come through. Earlier versions were a problem and I don't recall the version we fianally were able to receive signle attachments. Either way if you need attachments, it would be best to have an upload area or a seperate attachment email address from our experience.
wizzy420
I send my support e-mail to two locations - WHMCS, and a regular e-mail. That takes care of attachments that don't work - but not too effective for a large support staff.
asgard
I submitted a support issue on this a while back. What I found was that I got attachments if they were with the first message in a ticket, but they did not appear in later messages in the ticket.
Troy
I didn't see this thread when it was originally active. Are you guys who originally responded still having the problem? You might also specify how you're piping tickets - piping or pop3 import. I have yet to properly receive an attachment via email. We use pop3 import because that allows spam assassin to weed out most of the spam before it gets to the support system. Matt says the system should be able to handle the attachments, but they never come through for us. (And yes the extensions are allowed.)
brianoz
As far as I recall we don't get attachments, even on the message that creates the ticket.
asgard
I'm using pop3 imports. I just sent an email to my helpdesk with an attached jpg file. It came through fine. In the same ticket I replied asking for another attachment. Sent that through via Outlook. It did not appear in WHMCS.
