Serenade
How should I go about offering my customers a 30 day trial? I know I can select the "free" option, but how do I limit it to one month? And how can I make sure they don't sign up for a zillion trial accounts?
Sohan
Make them pay upfront, if they are not happy refund them. What most people do. Or you can give them the coupon 'trial' or something, with first month 100% off? Might attract some spam though.
MikeDVB
In my experiences it's better to offer your first month for $0.01 than free... At least if you can secure a pennies payment, you know that they can pay, and it's not just a spammer/warez, etc.
Serenade
Good tip Mike, thanks. Thanks Sohan as well.
RPS
Keep in mind if you charge them $0.01, you still might pay a merchant fee for the transaction too (unless you're using PayPal or mail in). Not sure if your fees are refunded from your merchant account if you refund the penny payment at the end of the month.
csc2ya
We have ours set so that the account is automatically terminated after one month. If the customer wishes to upgrade either the day the free trial ends, or prior to this, they can do so by contacting us via our support website. We also have it set so that we have to manually activate free trial accounts, so we can check that they are not abusing it by signing up over and over again.
