donnyboy
Is anyone else having problems with paypal notifying the script of payments being made? I've done everything the staff has told me to do through support tickets, and I still have to manually click that paid button for all of the invoices.
PPH
Were these subscriptions made through your install of WHMCS at it's current location?
brianr
I don't get alot of PayPal, but I did get a subscription payment yesterday after the 3.6 upgrade and it wasn't automatically posted.

PPH
Did you get anything back in your gateway log? If so it would be best to post the results without personal or sensitive info. Or a support ticket to Matt may help. BTW, check your DB tables for errors. We had some tables not closed properly that caused improper PP posting awhile back I believe.
mm1250
After I upgraded to v3.6 I have my first Paypal payment go through and it didn't get posted to the customer. I checked the gateway log and I did see it there but the status says "Not Supported".

PPH
In your admin area look under transactions>>view gateway log
donnyboy
In your admin area look under transactions>>view gateway log It says no transactions found. I just had someone register yesterday as well. Instant Payment Notification (IPN) is on with paypal what could be another reason why it isn't notifying whmcs?
mysmallbizu
I also noticed that when you configure paypal in the the payment gateways and active Paypal configuration includes... Usage Notes: You should enable IPN in your PayPal account and leave the URL blank Leave the IPN Url Blank?????
lynnette
Yes, the IPN url in paypal itself should be left blank.

PPH
You may want to look over the server logs for the time it should have posted. Perhaps your server blocked the api call? You really should have gotten something in the gateway log. Also make sure all your files are in place especially in the gateway folder etc.
mm1250
Yes, the IPN url in paypal itself should be left blank. If it is left blank, how will PayPal notify WHMCS of a payment retrival? Right now I have the IPN URL to: http://www.mydomain.com/ billing/modules/gateways/callback/paypal.php
lynnette
If you have a url in paypal itself, you can only have the one ipn working whereas lots of people need several different ipns working to the same paypal account. The code that is sent in the first place to paypal when whmcs starts the process, has the url paypal needs to post back to already in it so its not needed at paypal as well.
mm1250
Ok, well this must of changed in v3.6 becuaes in v3.5 we were suppose to have the URL in the IPN on paypal.
PPH
Ok, well this must of changed in v3.6 becuaes in v3.5 we were suppose to have the URL in the IPN on paypal. You are mistaken. WHMCS has not needed the call back url set at PP since we started in the 2.5 days. It sets the call back during the api call creating the subscription. It is only needed if you have subscriptions not created through whmcs, which is a bad practice anyway
HD-Elena
mm1250 is correct actually... I just got WHMCS in January 2008 so the first version I ever had was 3.51 - when I setup WHMCS I went to Paypal and added the URL that the admin section told me to copy and paste there. I just noticed today that there was new directions in the admin stating to leave the URL blank, which is why I came to the forums to see what was up. I'm going to submit a support ticket asking about this... I'll post back here with the response.
HD-Elena
Such fast support! My question I just noticed today under my payment gateways settings that the usage notes for PayPal have changed to "You should enable IPN in your PayPal account and leave the URL blank". Previously it had a URL to enter in at PayPal. My question is, should I go to PayPal and remove this URL? I have several clients paying with PayPal subscriptions that were setup before I started using WHMCS... so I am a bit confused over how PayPal would notify WHMCS that a PayPal subscription has been successfully paid. If I leave the URL under my PayPal IPN, will this cause any problems with the new PayPal subscriptions being made through WHMCS? Matt's Response It makes no difference to WHMCS whether the URL is set at PayPal or not. Often though, a PayPal account is used for more than just one site and so a user would not want a fixed IPN url - hence the support for leaving it blank. The only reason you would specify a callback URL at PayPal would be for if you have subscriptions setup outside of WHMCS that you want to track within it - and even then, that only works should the subscription have been setup without a fixed callback url being set for it. So hopefully that clears up any questions anyone else might have about the change. For new comers to WHMCS who have previously setup subscriptions at PayPal, you would enter the following URL at PayPal IPN Notification Preferences: http://www.yourdomain.com/whmcs_folder/modules/gateways/callback/paypal.php
directhostinguk
Under Profile > Website Payment Preferences there is an option called Auto Return does this need to be enabled or disabled. If enabled to we leave it blank or set it to: http://www.yourdomain.com/whmcs_folder/modules/gateways/callback/paypal.php

If enabled to we leave it blank or set it to: http://www.yourdomain.com/whmcs_folder/modules/gateways/callback/paypal.php You might want to read the notes when you setup the payment gateway in WHMCS. I believe it is quite specific with the instructions right where you enter the information.
