clients being suspended and next due date not being updated

WHMCS has started suspending my clients for non payment, even though they have paid and the invoice is marked as paid.

It is also not updating the next due date on the services after the payment is processed, which I know from previous experience will result in no more invoices being generated for those products/services .
I had this same issue at a previous company years ago, and it never got resolved as all WHMCS support ever just said "let us know if it happens again",  which went on for years.

I have previously been told that I should not just manually update the next due date, as this can also cause problems.
