No Paypal Express option at checkout (cart.php)

Hello

I have signed up to Paypal Express Checkout, as I wanted to show credit cards as a payment option.   I had added the module, and now have my original Paypal and  the recently added Paypal Express Checkout.    However, if I uncheck "Show on Order Form" the  older Paypal module I then get no options on the checkout to under section "Select preferred method of payment" on the order form, (cart.php)  even though I have checked Paypal Express.

If I check Paypal it appears , but nothing  appears from Paypal Express at all.   It is like the form has is unable to see Paypal Express on the cart.php.

Am I misunderstanding this?

I am trying to give customers two options, 1) Pay by Paypal. 2) Pay via credit/debit card using  Paypal Express,  So give them two clear options on checkout.  It does appear on the invoice how I would like it,  it is this type of thing I want to see at checkout.  See below. rom the invoice.

I have tried this using default cart and themes and same applies.

the difference between old PayPal Basic and PayPal Checkout is that PP Checkout is shown at the ViewCart stage and NOT at checkout; PP Basic will be shown at checkout along with other payment options.

if you have both PP options enabled, they will (should) see both - just not in the same place.

Thanks for the response Brian but I can only get one option to show at the checkout stage,  If I enable Paypal Website Payments Pro (as example) then it does add the second option, so I may go with this module instead - I just need to understand that works!

It is like it sees Paypal and Paypal Express as the same thing.

if you were using PPC with standard_cart, then it should be shown at the viewcart stage... if you're using a custom template/orderform, then it might not necessarily support the output.

I did try it with both  Six theme and standard cart with no luck.

I assume the gateway is enabled in the product group settings for the product you're testing with ?
