Importing existing Plesk accounts to WHMCS

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

New to the WHMCS platform, and I've been experimenting with importing and such before I take it live. Have a couple of questions I've yet to figure out.
For reference, I'm using Plesk Onyx 17.8.11 and using WHMCS 7.7RC1

So, it seems that WHMCS uses two things; the Plesk account's system username/pass, and then - at least when provisioning a new user from WHMCS -  mod_pleskaccounts (userid, usertype, panelexternalid) - which gets saved in the external_id column in Plesk's DB. I'd read that is was in the format whmcs_plesk_XX - however it looks more like a uuid value.

Following the standard manual import instructions (https://docs.whmcs.com/Importing_Data) it appears that I'd have to manually create this panelexternalid value? And then save it to external_id in Plesk?

I've also looked at the Account Sync module (https://www.modulesgarden.com/products/whmcs/account-synchronization). Same issue; accounts are missing this linking ID.
Noticed with this module that you don't have an order entry like you would above. Does that affect anything? Also seems to create an unneeded 'dedicated ip' entry. Any other drawbacks on using this tool?

I guess my last question is this: it appears that the all the module commands work (create, suspend, password, etc.)... which leaves me wondering - what does the mod_pleskaccounts/external_id do?

Sorry for the long winded first post - thanks for any advice/help!
