Question

Hi,

A few questions as we consider a migration from ModernBill to WHMCS.

(1) Does WHMCS handle tax/VAT correct as per UK VAT rules? Being VAT complaint is a critical element for the billing system we use. If not, are there any plans to make the software compliant?

(2) Many billing systems are very USD biased, however, Modernbill works fine when using GBP which also applies to options on CC processing options (some USD focussed ones only have Authorize.net with no options for those in other countries). Where does WHMCS stand?

(3) For EU/VAT companies that use WHMCS, what are your thoughts?

(4) For those companies that have switched away from ModernBill v5, why did you and what are your thoughts?

MB5 was for us the most over complicated piece of software we have ever had the misfortune to use and I still shudder when I think we paid good money for it!

In comparison WHMCS works like a dream!

It is a UK written piece of software and works fine out of the box for ourselves as a UK company.

I would say try the demo and can more or less guarantee you will be hooked within moments and wish you had found it before MB5!

Thanks

Paul

Hi there,

I would do a search for 'modernbill' in the Feedback section, http://forum.whmcs.com/forumdisplay.php?f=10 and I think you'll be blown away with what you read. You just can't compare MB V4 or V5 with WHMCS.

Then try the demo and see for yourself.

We moved from MB earlier this year....and you couldn't believe the differences. This is a different level of software and community altogether. MB is dead (or at least should be) in my opinion. Its a crime it's being sold and web hosts have to rely on it for their business and livelihood.

Yes, you can charge VAT to your customers using the tax rules in WHMCS and the invoice will show the rate being charged. You can customise the invoice templates to show your VAT number and can use a custom field to accept VAT numbers from your clients. There is also a tax exempt checkbox for each client that allows you to specify when a client shouldn't be charged VAT.

EDIT: Si beat me to it!
