uberhost
Hi Vijay, You could do it as a coupon, though you'd want the term to be longer to make it work. In other words, if you're giving a fourth month, you'd need it to be part of a six-month plan. Go in your admin panel to Configuration > Promotions and set it up to work with the package you have in mind. Be sure to change Applies to: "Any Payment Term" to "Semi-Anually". vj135
can i offer this: buy 4 month get 2 months free OR buy 6 months get 2 months free. which makes better sense to do ? thanks vijay
Iceman
I'd take it a little further than that... Buy 12 months hosting get x months free. Most clients will want hosting at least fo the length of their domain registration. Cheers, Paul
vj135
but the discount method says money value or percentage value? Iceman
You could try: buy 12 months for the the price of, say, 11. Then set the discount to 1/12 of the total. Cheers, Paul

Cheers, Paul buy 9 months and get 3 months free - for this lets say my 12 months cost $12 so i have to sell it for $9. I have created a promotion name PROMO 2008 and multiplied 3 months X pricing for 1 month and put that value in the money value/value. so whenever a customer buys that hosting package and enters the name PROMO 2008 the deduction will be automatic? thanks vijay
Si
Excuse my missing the point here, but if you're making this available to all customers, why don't you just discount your prices per the period they are purchasing in your product setup pricing tab? ie, 1 month = $1 1 year = $9 and on your website write something like....'Pay for 1 year, get 3 months free' ? Sorry if I'm being obvious and missing the point of this thread. Si
vj135
Si -- that makes sense and easier to do . If i do what u suggest say for the first 2 months and then change the rates back to the original will the customers who already purchased the packages be affected? 2) I think the idea of the coupon was to give discount to colleagues at work. And then maybe another coupon code to all of the general public thanks please reply vijay

My understanding is that they won't be affected. They will continue to get the deal that they signed up to at the annual renewal rate. If you want to change that, you have to enter each customers account and physically change the renewal price.
Si
If I were you, I would set your standard and fixed pricing up first of all. Then, if you want to give extra discount to work colleagues, do that via a coupon. Don't give coupons out to the general public, unless 1) you want to undercut your fixed prices 2) you are running a promotion for a limited period etc. Si
