melzisme
Hi guys, I'm getting a the following error on my activity logs WHOIS Lookup Error for 'domain.my': Error: 110 - Connection timed out regardless what domain i tried to search, it shows as available. I tried changing the whois server to whois.mynic.net.my , it made all domains that i search to not available. anyone knows the solution for this? it used to work prior to v6 updates.
brian!
anyone knows the solution for this?it used to work prior to v6 updates. I think the two things are not linked - mynic changed their whois policy months ago (perhaps even last year)... I certainly removed all the .my entries from our whoisservers list because they was useless. https://www.mynic.my/en/faq.php?id=140#306 MYNIC WHOIS service is an online facility to check the details of a .my domain name registration. This extended domain name search facility replaces the previous lookup service. MYNIC has added several types of searches for user's ease of use. The WHOIS service can be accessed through: MYNIC web site; or port 43 (open to MYNIC authorised reseller only) that last line is the important one - only mynic resellers can now use the port 43 whois. therefore, you'd either have to become a reseller (not sure how much that would cost!), or find a whois webform that WHMCS can handle - it can't, out of the box, use the one on the mynic website because it has a TLD dropdown (unless you wrote a script to get around that). the last time I updated the whoisservers list, I couldn't find a workable alternative.

brian!
Did you manage to get the solution to this problem? I don't think the situation has changed - MyNIC are still limiting port 43 whois access to resellers only; WHMCS can't handle their web whois page (and WHMCS specifically told me that they won't update their code to do so) - and I never managed to find an alternative. short of becoming a reseller for MyNIC, your only practical solution would be to find an existing MyNIC reseller who has a whois form that WHMCS can interpret correctly... all of the one's that i've checked use either captcha or TLD dropdowns, neither of which WHMCS can handle.
