Documentation about AdminArea function for provisioning modules

Choms

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Does anyone knows how exactly works (i.e. what is the syntax and accepted parameters/variables) the AdminArea function for the provisioning modules? (http://docs.whmcs.com/Provisioning_Module_Developer_Docs)

The only reference to that function in the documentation states:

AdminArea - Used to define HTML code that displays on server configuration page (Setup > Servers). Used to provide an automated shortcut/login link to the integrated server control panel.

But it doesn't specifies how should I define that HTML code at all, it's not really useful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thanks twhiting but I already had a look at the sample module and it happens they are not using the AdminArea function either, that's why I came to this forum. I'm not able to find a single reference or example about the AdminArea function for provisioning modules...

what feature you thing is missing?

provisioning modules adds custom buttons and functions that you can run manually when you are inside Client -> Product/Service, also custom fields (Text, Checkbox, etc) can be appended to the same product so you would fill it with extra information.

Hi,

Well, I don't think any feature is missing, I just think there's an existing feature with zero documentation for which all WHMCS developers seems to be avoiding to answer what does it does or how does it works. That just makes me wonder why... if it's a real usable function it should be well documented, else they should just remove that function from the documentation and problem solved.

If you say it's a conspiracy it must be, I just said I asked this on a support ticket and after some mails talking about different functions and avoiding any reference to the AdminArea function they forwarded me to this forum, so I asked here, and I just get the same kind of reply "you can use other functions".

Honestly I don't care if it's a conspiracy, or if that function has security issues that allows XSS injections or who-knows-what, but obviously nobody will answer how does that function works so nevermind my question, whoever can close this thread.

PS: If the question is "Someone knows how X undocumented function works?" the answer can be "Yes, this way", "No, sorry" or "Yes but I won't tell you", answering a clear question with sarcastic comments and obviousness is not helpful at all and, imho, quite harsh
