Whois .es forbidden

the problem is that the registry for .es uses a private port43 whois server - so you need to register your IP with them in order to access it (whois.nic.es).

https://sede.red.gob.es/eRegistro/inicio.action

i'm not sure if there is any cost involved, but I suspect there might be a bit of work as I think you first need to apply for a digital certificate - which might require citizenship or passport documentation to be sent to them...

hopefully, your Spanish is a little better than mine. :)

the only other alternative would be to find a whois web form that WHMCS could use without the need for additional scripting - i'm not currently aware of one.

Hi, the request in nic.es to authorize your IP is free, you can see all information at http://www.dominios.es/dominios/es/todo-lo-que-necesitas-saber/valores-anadidos/puerto-43

The whole process took 15 hours for me, I used a digital certificate to send the request (instead email message).

After they approve your IP, you have to replace some lines in includes/whoisservers.php for domains .es and its second level extensions:

.es|whois.nic.es:43|There is no information available on the domain consulted

.org.es|whois.nic.es:43|There is no information available on the domain consulted

.com.es|whois.nic.es:43|There is no information available on the domain consulted

.nom.es|whois.nic.es:43|There is no information available on the domain consulted

.gob.es|whois.nic.es:43|There is no information available on the domain consulted

.edu.es|whois.nic.es:43|There is no information available on the domain consulted

whois.nic.es sends very poor information for each domain, only the owner name. They don't include the rest of usefull information like expiration date, DNS servers, registrar agent, etc. But is enough for show the status for .es domains in your shopping cart (registered or not).
