MJHost
Hey all, I have a client, that has a .co.uk domain registered with one.com, the domain is not due to expire until 06-Jan-2018 He has an unpaid invoice with one.com for shared hosting! (He is refusing to pay that, due to issues he has had with the hosting plan). He registered with me, and signed up for hosting, plus the transfer of the domain name, however one.com is refusing to allow him to change the IPS-Tag. Is this legal? I thought that they could only refuse under certain circumstances? https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/name-holder-faqs-2012-02-25-en A registrar may legitimately deny a transfer request in certain limited circumstances, as follows: Evidence of fraud Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) action Court order Reasonable dispute over the identity of the person authorizing the transfer Domain name is on hold due to payment owed for a previous registration period Express written objection from the domain name holder Domain name is in "Lock" status (Registrars must provide a readily accessible and reasonable means for name holders to remove the lock status. Contact your registrar for assistance.) Domain name is within 60 days of initial registration Domain name is within 60 days of a previous transfer Registrars are required to specify a reason when denying a transfer request. Contact either the current registrar or the registrar you wish to transfer to for assistance. The client has contacted one.com, and they are refusing to offer any type of assistance, unless he pays the invoice. He has contacted me for assistance, as the ICANN web page says to do. I don't know what else to suggest to him. Can anyone advise?
brian!
assuming the domain is in your clients name, you could try contacting Nominet directly - they'll be able to change the registrar from one.com to yourself... but it would cost £10+VAT... http://www.nominet.uk/domains/manage-your-domain/#faq141 We understand that needs can change – and you might wish to move to a different registrar. If you wish to move your domain name, you should get in touch with your registrar. Because they have access to our registration and domain management systems, they can usually arrange to move a domain name for you very quickly. If, however, they’re unable to complete this change for you, you can move your domain name to a new registrar yourself using your Online Services account. Requesting to switch to a new registrar costs £10 plus VAT, even if you’re moving more than one domain name alternatively, it might be worth speaking to Nominet, as they might have a word with one.com about the domain.
lance
we used to have a hell of a job transferring domains in from 1and1, Nominet never resolved anything for this, but the payment option is quick... you will though have to have access I believe to the registrants email address (hopefully that wont be a one.com one).
