Client managing their domain from WHMCS?

Hi

Just want to know if I'm understanding this correctly and what my options are...

I've setup my hosting and domain reseller (NetEarthOne reseller)

So, if a client buys hosting and a domain from me then they can manage their domains DNS from Cpanel.

But what about if they just buy a domain from me?

Looked around the WHMCS interface and only found the option to change Nameservers. So tried ticking the "DNS Management" in pricing and that gives them a "DNS Management" option in the client control panel.

But when I experimented with changing the A-record it had no effect.

Investigating I found that if I login to netearthone as the client it gives a warning that it can't do anything because it's using my branded nameservers rather than mydomain.mars.orderbox-dns.com etc.

The problem is the client won't see this warning in WHMCS.

So am I understanding this all correctly? What are my options?

looks like NetEarthOne use the LoginBoxes system to manage domains just like ResellerClub, then the same features may apply.

If you need to manage the DNS of domain registered through NEO, your domains or client's domains need to use the NameServers of your account in NEO, as far as i know you have the option to brand this name servers like ns4.yourdomain.com instead of mars.orderbox-dns.com

Thanks for the replies

There is here. But seems a lot of work. Particularly if I want to use several domain resellers which I'm thinking about.

Both are separate, You can't modify DNS of domain name from cPanel but you can only edit your hosting dns/nameserver.

I realise that, but meant that they at least have the dns zone options that Cpanel offers - which will be absent if they buy a domain without hosting.

I'm thinking the simplest option would be to edit the WHMCS Domain Management page to tell the client if they want to use this feature they should change nameservers to orderbox-dns

You are looking for LogicBox integration within cPanel to allow clients to modify their DNS entries all from your WHMCS client area, is that correct?

If so I do not know of anything (addon wise) that can currently do that at the moment but that would be a great idea to see. I would suggest adding that as a feature request if it is not already. I am sure several registers should allow integration over API to their DNS management interface.
