pacwebhosting
System attempts to take a credit card when there is none on record and emails the customer that it has failed. Example:- Customer signs up and makes an order but does not enter credit card details to pay the invoice or they may remove the card details on record. Next day when cron runs it sends an overdue notice (thats ok) but also sends a credit card payment failed notice and looking at the payment gateway log it attempts to take the payment with no details! Can we change this so if there are no credit card details it does not attempt payment please? maybe substitute it with a "we have tried to take payment by your chosen method but do not have a card registered please login and update your records etc" email? Thanks Paul
webresellers
If you change the payment method from credit card, or whatever other gateway to something like paypal, mail in, or something like that, it should stop trying to process their credit card. If they have outstanding invooices, you might need to change their payment method as well.

Hi, I see what you mean thanks However this in itself still needs resolving to not attempt this in the firstplace without any credit/debit card on file Paul
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted October 19, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted October 19, 2007 If it wasn't attempted, the user would never get a failure notice. Matt
webresellers
The client has the ability to change their payment method from within the client area, once logged in.... It pretty obvious that they originally picked credit card or another automated credit card processing gateway at the time of order or after the fact in their client area.

Matt Yes but it sends them a message of:- "This is a notice that a recent credit card payment we attempted on the card we have registered for you failed." Which doesnt make sense if they don't have one registered!! it's great if they have one on record and it is declined etc. This really should be handled by WHMCS to look and if there is details in there attempt payment and if not and the payment method is credit debit/cards send them an email which makes sense such as:- "We have tried to take your payment via your chosen payment method but you do not have a card registered with us" etc Paul
zigzam
Yes, I wondered myself why the system tries charging a credit card when the user doesn't have one listed. If no one changes it then it will continue to try an charge the "no card" until someone disables it. This causes huge issues when you have a large client base. If a credit card fails once, it shouldn't be attempted again. That would solve this issue and save everyone a lot of money and time.

I think this is already in the dev tracker, Matt could confirm it.
