what is part of the reason why there is so much spam.

Again, the "general" scripting community cares how much? But in any case , if sendmail died tomorrow - there would still be spam. Same theory as if guns disappeared there'd still be murder.

Never underestimate the human species to adapt to it's environment... (or in my case, turn on my air-con and have my environment adapt to me :))

those are some of the dumbest theories i have ever heard. Just because some people are going to find another way start a problem, doesnt mean we shouldnt do anything about it and just be irresponsible with our coding practices. Thats like saying, hey, its going to get hacked anyway, so why even have a login and password?

And just a note, an increase in guns actually reduces violent crimes in an area.

My SMTP account is no-reply@mysite.com (using a password).

I can still send out from support@mysite.com no troubles using SMTP. SMTP auth is just to ensure that this user calling the function is allowed access to the server and isn't a spammer.

How are you doing this? we did try and keep sending the emails from the one we are using to authenticate. Asked to Matt and he said it work like that...but obviously we cant use it like that way when you have sales@ support@, etc.

Thanx!
