Language File 'english' missing - Error displayed after upgrade to V5.3.4

I am having this issue after I upgraded to V5.3.4. The client area seems to work perfectly fine. They are able to login, logout, order etc. However, when I login to Admin Area, after the initial login screen, I get a blank screen. After updating the configuration file to display errors, the error message I see is "Language file 'english' Missing". This is all I get.

I read some documentation for language file set up and learned that the client and Admin areas have different folders for themselves. (That's a relief!). Anyway. I can see the english.php file present in my admin folder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Note: Not sure if this matters, but I have renamed my admin folder. The folder name contains a tilde sign. Also, since I was upgrading, you can expect that all necessary set up for the config file were properly updated and everything was working like butter before the upgrade.

I think that's where the problem lies...

NB. The Custom admin folder name can contain only alphanumeric characters (0-9, a-z).

The variable in the configuration.php file should not contain a leading slash (/)

so renaming the admin folder and making the change in the config file should resolve the problem.

This did resolve the problem for me. Thanks Brian. I wonder if this is a recent change, because it has always been working for me, since I was on V4. I also have upgraded to several subsequent versions without any problem. Anyway, thanks for pointing me to the right direction. I was having this hunch that if the folder name was a problem, but was not sure. :!:

Thanks a lot! Much appreciated!
