Enom "new tld" module question?

Unless I am looking in the wrong places there is a real lack of technical information on how the "new tld" enom integration actually works?

When a customer builds a watch list then places an order it says enom take care of emailing and billing the customer and pay a commission, does this mean that new domain order never ends up in our customers account in our whmcs installation, and we're actually just like an affiliate passing them directly to enom?!

Anyone using this implementation that can provide some clarity? Customers are going to get pretty confused if they hold all their domains with us inside our WHMCS and then try and order any of these and they don't end up in the same place and are instead "directly" with enom?

Matt,

Here's an overview from Enom:

This addon allows your customers to participate in the launch of new TLDs. Customers can build Watchlists to keep updated on new TLDs or specific domain names. As new TLDs launch, they can place orders and you earn commissions from their Watchlist on each launch phase including: Sunrise, Landrush, and Pre-Registration.

Once installed, you can customize which launch phases and new TLDs are offered via your reseller account at eNom.com.

I think that Matt was refering to the fact that the overview is ambiguous and is not at all clear.

Enom's promotion says;

As new TLDs launch, they can place orders and you earn commissions from their Watchlist on each launch phase including: Sunrise, Landrush, and Pre-Registration.

I take that to read that Enom take control and simply pay a commission on each phase and the client does then end up with a separate Enom account.

They go on to say:

Once installed, you can customize which launch phases and new TLDs are offered via your reseller account at eNom.com.

This seems to be just the ordinary Enom process of adding the TLD's to WHMCS.

The way the overview is written though could mean the opposite of what I interpret!

Exactly... Nobody gives any technical information to confirm one way or the other.

Could be a nightmare when clients start asking why their new TLD successful registrations are not in there domain list with us? Just seems like a tightly integrated affiliate link for enom to be honest? Whereas it would be better to have handled it in the usual way so the domain reg and management is with us within our own enom account and inside whmcs with the other domains?

That's exactly what it is.

The client ends up with a 'retail' account under your enom account with the domain in and you get a commission on that and any further purchases they make - basically the same as using their 'registry' ordering system.

Hi guys,

The module does do all that you say, it goes through eNom through your site using the non branded portal to do all searches and purchases, and handles all of that for you, and as stated previously you earn a commission that is paid to you in your reseller account. Once the domain is actually purchased when the TLD goes into GA, the domain is then "awarded" to the customer. Once that happens the domain should at that point be available to manage through the addon module. There is a cron job that ships with the addon that rns once per day, and part of that cron jobs main duty is to actually find all of the domains that have been awarded to you and your clients, and then import them into WHMCS so they can see the domain as part of their normal domain list and manage it that way.

In the event that job fails or it cant import, or in some cases that have the cron job system disabled then the domain will be available to manage in the portal and can be manually imported into WHMCS, and then marked as "imported" manually by making an API call to the enom system.

In most cases that shouldnt be needed, it should do this all automatically as part of the cron process.

thanks for the info, its the non static of pricing that's a pain, even in GA there are price fluctuations, go onto any other site and the prices are static for the TLD.... enom is losing out here...... I bet many like me are looking at other resources to implement the new tlds at a static pricing.
