MHD
I just got my copy of WHMCS today so please forgive me if this is a real noob question... If I have a package setup in WHM, and in WHMCS under Products -> Module Settings I enter the same package name, should the fields such as Web Space Quota, etc. then auto-populate? If so, they're not. And if not I really don't understand why not. There does seem to be a lot of redundant entry between entering information into WHM and entering the same information into WHMCS. I assumed WHMCS would pull all of this data from WHM once the server was setup and access to it was established.
brian!
I just got my copy of WHMCS today so please forgive me if this is a real noob question... oh I've had it for a month or two, and I think i'm still asking noob questions myself! the first few days of configuring are the worst - but the good thing is, if the answer isn't in the documentation (or sometimes the documentation is just confusing), then it can often be found here in the forums. If I have a package setup in WHM, and in WHMCS under Products -> Module Settings I enter the same package name, should the fields such as Web Space Quota, etc. then auto-populate? If so, they're not. I assumed WHMCS would pull all of this data from WHM once the server was setup and access to it was established. you would think that wouldn't you - I did myself. http://docs.whmcs.com/CPanel/WHM 1.In most cases, you should create a package inside WHM itself (in Packages > Add a Package) and then just enter the Package Name into WHMCS exactly as it appears in WHM (leaving all the other fields blank) 2. But there is also the option to define custom packages - you can do that by leaving the Package Name field blank and defining the individual limits into the fields the module settings page (You will need root access for this to work) so set them up in WHM and then just enter the package name into WHMCS.
Alex - Arvixe
WHMCS doesn't pull this data when creating a product. You need to manually set those numbers into those fields. Maybe with the cPanel investment and 5.3 coming up we'll see some more advanced integration with cPanel / WHMCS?
MHD
"http://docs.whmcs.com/CPanel/WHM" brian! - thanks I hadn't seen that Alex - that would be nice. I really dislike entering the same information in multiple places. I mean, we're all computer people used to working with databases, right? Redundant data entry is just one of those pet peeves that drives me nuts! Honestly I've also come across many places where a few minutes of work by WHMCS on the admin UI would be beneficial. Things like grouping similar items together, coloring the background of certain items, relocating buttons for clearer presentation of the action to be performed, just minor tweaks like that. I'm also not happy to find out that the sandbox for paypal is not supported. Since I've never setup a hosting panel before I really would like to run MANY test purchases of various types of products before connecting to an actual 'live' api. Still, after all of this, so far so good. I'm liking it - if I can get it all to work! Thanks to both for the help.
