Anchor Link in Editor not working the way it should sends to root index page

Recommended Posts

I discovered this issue while writing an article in the WHMCS Knowledgebase.

I wanted to add a few anchor links and when testing this links I was taken to my WHMCS installs root index page instead to the spot on the page I am on as it should work.

For the purpose of this post I will say my site is http://www.justsomewhmcssite.com

WHMCS is installed in the root directory of http://www.justsomewhmcssite.com, NOT in a subdirectory.

And I am using SEO friendly URLs for WHMCS.

And I create an article titled "How to do this"

I first created the anchor called "bottom" and placed it at the bottom of my article.

Then at the top of the page, I used the link tool on the editor tool bar and instead of populating the "Link URL" field with the URL to the anchor, I used the "Anchors" drop down and selected "bottom" form my list of anchors. And saved the page

So now after saving and testing the Anchor link instead of taking me to http://www.justsomewhmcssite.com/how-to-do-this.html#bottom I was actually taken to http://www.justsomewhmcssite.com/#bottom the index.php file for my WHMCS install.

WORK AROUND - is to create the anchors as before. But when creating a link to the anchor, you need to actually use the "Link URL" field. And in this example, you would need to place in http://www.justsomewhmcssite.com/how-to-do-this.html#bottom to get your Anchor link to work correctly.

Now, on the same server (but different domain) that I am having this issue, I have a copy of WordPress installed and the anchor links work the way they suppose to.

My question, why isn't the TinyMCE editor in WHMCS not working the way it should? Is this a bug?
