Changed from Reseller to Dedicated

So as my business has been growing, I have upgraded from a Hostgator Reseller plan to a Dedicated Server.

 

My 'current' WHMCS license was part of the partnership between the services. that same license agreement, as you know, is not offered to Dedicated clients.

 

So if I want to maintain my existing system, of course buying my own license, how would I go about it...or is it best to just install the latest version on my server and start over fresh?

I think it's best if you just update the license key and keep moving without losing any of your clients db etc.

You can apply the new licence to an existing WHMCS - done it many times as part of acquisitions

Hey,

 

Contact HostGator and ask them if you can purchase a key from them to add to the server. You would simply need to add the new key.

 

Note: Unsure if hostagtor sells keys to customers.

you could just purchase a WHMCS licence direct from WHMCS and then change the key in the configuration.php file without installing any files.

I'm also a reseller to hostgator for the past years but my site is not online.

I just decided to put my site online by using WHMCS but I'm having problem to integrate it after installation.

Pls, which software you people are using for integration? I know of Dreamweaver, or how?

Unfortunately, Dreamweaver would not work with WHMCS. You can design your site in Dreamweaver, then purchase a WHMCS Integration from WHMCS.com or plenty of other places. You could also use Zomex WHMCS templates.

Dreamweaver has a plugin for working with smarty templates without it your tags would not be recognised.

 

To fit your website design into whmcs is simple enough. Just duplicate the template you think will best suit your needs, Then open header.tpl and footer.tpl in any good text editor and make the changes you need.

 

Any CSS that is existing will also need to be placed into the css file for the template and any js files should be moved into the templates js directory and linked to accordingly.

 

This is not difficult at all, it just seems more complicated because of the smarty tags. If you ignore those (not remove them) the templates are just html, js and css. and you just move the existing smarty tags to where you need them.
