durangod
Hi, We all know how frustrating it can be to type a whole email template and all that text, then hit save and all of a sudden you get a white page that says "invalid token" and so you hit the back button and all your text is gone. Yes i know i should save more often, and yes i usually always copy the text before hitting save just to be sure i can put it back, but i did not do either this time and it really upsets me that now i have to retype all that text all over again. I think it has something to do this session or cookie, but then again when i refreshed the page it did not log me off, so it is not session or cookie i dont believe. Dont the developers understand that we have no idea what the heck "invalid token" means, why dont they put some text up there so we know what is going on? Oh wait maybe its a national secret what the &^&^ a token is! lol Come on people i swear dont you test this stuff anymore.. Does anyone know what this is and why it happens so i can avoid it, every time i see it i want to choke somebody lol... Thanks.
durangod
I did find the thread where if you have two tabs open it happens but that is not the case with me.
WHMCS Chris
Hello, The "Invalid Token" message is referencing that the session has expired. However we do have a case where multiple tabs or moving into the client area while having a separate tab is a bug within the software. We do have an available patch for this which is noted here: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?52402-Invalid-Token-Errors However, another point to check into is PHP variables regarding your session information. This can be viewed via a phpinfo() page, or $ php -i|grep ^session\.
WHMCS JamesX
I can confirm that, in my case at least, the patch did resolve the Invalid Token issue for me.
durangod
Thanks Chris and thanks James, im just wondering why if its a session issue it did not log me off. Should'nt it have if the session was lost or timed out? Thanks for the post link, however i will decline to do a ticket at this point, seems as though others have that in hand and maybe when they resolve this (as i did not have both client and admin open just admin) then maybe they will post a patch. I see no reason to open a ticket to just have someone say wait for the patch. Thanks everyone, ill just deal with it till then peace Edited January 14, 2013 by durangod

durangod
Chris, nope got invalid token again sir this morning, this time i was doing an addon product. I dont understand if it is session ending it should log me off, but it does not sir. I am able to continue as normal once i go back but of course my work i did is gone. Somewhere the session is triggering this when it should not, or it is triggering it correctly and its not logging me off like it should.. Anyway Chris sir just wanted to let you know the patch did not work in my situation. Thanks..
WHMCS Chris
Hello, What's the output of running: $ php -i|grep ^session\. Or the output from phpinfo() on the session settings
durangod
You want that now or you want me to wait till it happens then run phpinfo
WHMCS Chris
The phpinfo information is static (requires manual intervention for values to change). So you can send it at any time.

WHMCS Chris
Hello, You would need to detail every thing you're doing at the time the error occurs in order for us to further investigate.
durangod
Will do Briefly i was doing a template and i left the edit open on it as i was called away and got back about 20 min later and hit save and thats when it happened. Same deal with the addon product. So i do think you may be correct as far as it has something to do with the session or cooke expiring but it maybe just be a simple error trap deal that is not processing correctly, and instead of just loging me off as it should, it tosses that error. But i will take note of everything that is going on for you next time. Edited January 22, 2013 by durangod
WHMCS Chris
Dave, 20 minutes? Your PHP session is most likely timing out at that point. That would be standard with most PHP applications. http://php.net/manual/en/session.configuration.php#ini.session.gc-maxlifetime
durangod
With the default of that being 1440, what would you recommend 3600?
WHMCS Chris
Do you need it to go that high? One hour is quite a while - I would be worried if I accidentally left myself logged in on a public computer after checking some tickets when I had some time to kill.
durangod
Your right ill up it to about 2000 and see what happens.
