Amazon SES (Simple E-mail Service) Incompatibilities with WHMCS via SMTP

Hello,

This is a follow-up to these threads:

http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?35996-Amazon-SES-Integration

http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?48540-Amazon-SES-for-mass-mail

I am unable to reply to the referenced posts, but would like to confirm that WHMCS mail functions are still not working using Amazon SES SMTP. An oddity, as SES SMTP responds identically as a regular SMTP service -- so it just must be some type of handshake error. The previous thread reported the error as: "Language string failed to load: tls" (If you provide me the location of the appropriate log file, I'll be glad to post my error message, as well.)

Thanks in advance - hope we can get this resolved ASAP.

Alex

I've actually gotten this working with the following settings in Setup -> General -> Mail

Mail Type: SMTP

SMTP Port: 587

SMTP Host: email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com

SMTP Username: your amazon ses SMTP username

SMTP Password: your amazon ses SMTP password

SMTP SSL Type: TLS

SMTP Host may vary depending on your region - see your AWS/SES settings for details.

Would be helpful if WHMCS put this info in their setup howto.
