HawtDogFlvrwtr
The-Ratpack.com LLC is proud to announce a new addon initiative that automatically translates tickets in a foreign language that are submitted via email or the contact page. This addon will tie into the google translate web interface and translate tickets that are in a different language than the one you've specified on our addon configuration page. We decided to build this addon because we receive several tickets a day in a language we don't speak. How it works: As soon as a ticket is received, we capture the message and subject information and toss it to google for translation. If the language detected by google is different than the language you've specified in our config, it automatically updates the ticket to display both the translated text and the original text. *Please note that we don't make use of their API so there is no need for an API key.* Why aren't you using their API interface? It cost's money to use their API infrastructure. Our way leverages curl and their website for translation. This ensues that you never have to pay a dime and can translate an unlimited number of support tickets. The only limitation to translating via this method is the url length limit of 2000 characters. We are working to circumvent this by splitting the ticket into several queries if the ticket exceeds 2000 characters. Sweet, you can translate what they've written, but how am I supposed to respond? While it doesn't currently work, the final product will automatically catch your outgoing message, translate it from your native language to the users language via the same mechanism. The outgoing message will also contain the original message in your native language, as well as the message in your customers native language. This process, much like the ticket submittal translation will be transparent to you and the customer. How much will this cost? For the beta testers, nothing. When we release our final version, we will come up with a price model. Do you have any screenshots? We sure do: Ticket Translated: Conversion Process Activity Log: While we still have a few more week of work until a final version can be released, We are looking for beta testers that are willing to provide feedback and suggestions for the addon. Beta testers that provide feedback will finish the test with a free license to the final version. If you're interested in being a tester, please reply to this thread stating so. Infopro
Let me get this straight, I post my password, credit card details, or some other personal Info to a ticket, mistakenly thinking the connection is secure between you and I, and you "toss it off to google translate" over a non secure connection, is that correct?
HawtDogFlvrwtr
Infopro, Sorry for the long delay in responding as I didn't get an email that there was a post. The connection back to google would be secure, but I understand your concern. This would obviously be for folks that don't get credit card information, or other extremely sensitive information within a ticket. Obviously, it won't be for everyone. In my case though, I don't ask users for such information so it works out perfectly. Also, with the massive amount of foreign tickets we receive, it made sense. Thank you for the input Thanks, Chris
