Basic Installation Issue

Hi,

I'm currently trying to get my hands dirty in starting a web-hosting business. I bought a server and installed cPanel under Centos 6.3.

Now, I'm trying to install WHMCS in the same server. I'm trying to following WHMCS guide to the T

I've Unzip the contents of the zip file to a folder on my Windows 7 computer.

I've also renamed the file "configuration.php.new" to "configuration.php".

Question :

question 1 : How do I ftp the entire whmcs folder to the Centos server ?

question 2 : to which directory do I ftp to ?

question 3 : do you know the exact centos command ? (I do know it is highly inappropriate as this is not a centos helpdesk).

question 4 : how do I run the command to install ?

Note : I'm very new to the linux world (03 days old)

OK, Someone is going to say it, may as well be me - You shouldnt be doing this at all. If you cannot grasp FTP then WHMCS is not for you.

Basically there are no centos commands you require.

You need to FTP the files to an appropriate folder inside your websites directory structure.

example /home/mysite/public_html/myaccount *where myaccount is where you want whmcs installed

You then need to create a database and run the install script by BROWSING to the install location.. example: http://www.blah.com/myaccount

I'm grateful for your answer. I'm a noob as far as Linux is concern, and trying to get my hands dirty (and looking stupid at the same time).

While I can ftp to (example) /home/mysite/public_html/myaccount *where myaccount is where I want whmcs installed, what kind of database and/or install script do I have to install or write ?

Thanks in advance for your wonderful answer.

Yeah, the method to install WHMCS is not unlike any other php application - For example, Joomla, Wordpress, Open cart, or any other Php/mysql based platform. Your customers are going to want to do this all the time.

Having said that, I was a bit of a noob when I started about 7 or 8 years ago :-)

I would suggest running your server for a while for yourself - and maybe a few friends or a select few clients.. Get used to how things work before going commercial.
