beware of WHMCSBB

Recommended Posts

A bit like WHMCS then :)

not really. if you check many forums you will see that the owners of Boardoo have spouts of when they will appear for about 12 months and then they vanish for several months before appearing again and then vanishing again.

i removed their software when 5.0.3 was released

but going back to WHMCSBB. using whois information i managed to find at least 3 other sites owned by Nathan and emailed the emails for these sites and guess what no replies.

so this looks like he is happy as long as you keep paying but wont communicate with customers

Easyhost, did you look at the vanilla integration as thats a freebie and a free howto guide was on here too.... We currently use MyBB but as forum is seperate to site we find alot dont like registering on that too... so maybe something we will look into over the next few days too.

vanilla is not free http://vanillaforums.com/plans, but personally i dont like it. i have tried many but as they a re all separate like you clients dont like the iidea of registering sep for the forum

I know WHMCSBB is only $6 a month, which is nothing , but when the admin username keeps changing their is something wrong somewhere. i also have someone place an abusive post on the forum, but the only way i could remove the post was by going into the database

its free via softaculous installer if you have that on your server... Installed it on a test site yesterday and it worked (didn`t link it though to whmcs). Another good one we used was xenforo, again like vbulletin its not cheap, it works great as a portal/community site though which is what we use it for.

yes i have softaculous on all my servers. i will be testing a few forums in the next few days. WHMCSBB has suspended my licence for non payment, but so far the forum is still displaying on my site and even in the addons area of my whmcs admin area, which is strange as the lic is suspended unless they dont have the licence system set up correctly

I now know 100% that WHMCSBB licence system does not work and they must be just taking their users money .

due to all these issues i placed in cancellation request on their site and they have terminated my services according to my acount with them, but in my WHMCS admin area and my site the forum is still 100% active.

FYI, sometime ago. There was a developer that sold a forum add on. I purchased it and it worked great. The guy was from Greece and thats about all I recall. I'm not in the business so I can't just go look at the module and tell you who it is etc. But, if someone is interested respond here and I'll see if I have the module around and can get some contact info from it.

Hey I found the module that quick. No contact info as yet. Persons name is Marti. This is from March of 2011. At that time he said he would be the first to offer his add on with no source code encoding to encourage others to do so. Actually I think that thread was in this column.

Hmmm none of the files I have checked so far have any contact info in them. I'll check the rest later and advise here.

Hey guys,

I've just come and across this topic and decided to register to this forum just so that I could reply to this topic and help you guys out who are experiencing trouble with WHMCSBB.

Similar to many others, I purchased WHMCSBB last Saturday, uploaded it to my server and it returned an "Invalid License" error. I have been chasing the authors of the script all weekend through submitting tickets directly through the WHMCSBB website. However, I had no response until yesterday.

Im pretty confident the only reason I had a response from them was purely because I contacted their third-party company called "The Simple Host" whom are associated with the WHMCSBB script. If you check your PayPal receipt which you should have a copy of in your inbox, then you should be able to see at the bottom of the email where it shows both the name of the associated company (TheSimpleHost.net) as well as the name that should appear on your bank statements (SIMPLEHOSTL)

Any whom, I tried to reach Nathan who's CEO of WHMCBB, and also is either an employee or manager or The Simple Host via the contact number they have on The Simple Host website. The dedicated phone line is open between 9am - 5pm. I tried for a good 3 days and still had no answer.

I eventually, raised a support ticket on the The Simple Host website and addressed it to Nathan and raised my enquiry with him in regards to the "Invalid License" issue I was getting and he responded the very same day with the fix.

The forum is working pretty good on my server now without any further faults. If you guys should need assistance in getting this working please let me know and I'd be more than happy to help out! :)

Cheers,

Joshua.

Hi

I have not had time to remove WHMCSBB from my WHMCS install as yet, i have just removed front end links so no one sees the invalid licence message.

I have not found anything else that suits our site or integrates as well as WHMCSBB. I would still like to use WHMCS but i could not due to my original issue

he just closed the ticket, so i opened another ticket and as yet this new ticket remains unanswered. even sending messages to his other sites goes unanswered so i am afraid that Nathan Mahdavi and WHMCSBB and all other sites run by him is just a 100% *

If you want to share the login with vbulletin, you can take a look at this module : http://www.whmcs.com/members/communityaddons.php?action=viewmod&id=83 I recommend you vbulletin for this, since it's the best discussion forum cms on the market right now. http://www.vbulletin.com/ That's the forum cms you are using right now on whmcs website :-)

I recommend you to use an external forum system. That will only be better!

BTW : I don't think this would be very useful. Do you think your customers won't go to your forum because you do not share the login between whmcs and the forum, or because it's not integrated into their customer area? I don't think so! Just take a look at whmcs website. You have 2 different logins, even if there is a hook existing for Vbulletin. Peoples register to the forum and use the 2 different logins. Their forum have lots of success, so there is no need for more integration!

On our side we are using Drupal for our forum needs, and it work well with the advanced forum module :-) That's the best we found, and it's fully integrated with the customer comments on blog and knowledgebase / tutorials, or any other feature we add on our website. :-)

hope that help!

Nathan from WHMCBB finally got back to me after i opened several tickets to get him to read the original ticket which he kept closing. he provided me with a free licence, but the instruction to add this to my whmcs template were out of date, so i replied to the ticket. got this reply on 4th Oct 19:35

Without having access to your template directory I will not be able to assist you with this.

Would it be possible to grant FTP details to only the templates directory so I can find which file you need to modify. If you don't wish to do this, you could zip up and send in the templates directory so I can assist you further

but his ticket system would not accepted zip files and i was not willing to give him ftp access to my site so i replied to him same day at 21:11.

on 14th Oct at 23:36 ( 10 days later) i got this

You should be able to upload .zip files now

so on 15th Oct at 09:16 i sent him a zipped copy of the template i am using, same day he closed the ticket, so even with a free licence i cannot use this

Did u ever get this resolved? We are looking into the WHMCSbb just to handle a couple of posts.

NO, i send him by request my custome template on 15/10/12 so he could see which file the links should go in and then he would do this, then nothing but tickets kept being closed until he sent me this link http://weblog.whmcsbb.com/2011/03/13/adding-link-in-client-homepage/on 13/11/12 so i did this and then found that my licence which he provided me free for all my trouble was invalid. then 10/12/12 he replied saying it was due to a cancel request (which i never placed) so he fixed the invalid licence but still no luck with linking then on 13/12/12 i get "The file you're editing is for whmcs/porta.php which on your installation doesn't work. Do you use the whmcs/portal.php link (it seems on be linked on your website)." this was after i told him i was using portal.html. i replied to him the same day and since then nothing but closed tickets.

Did you get this resolved eventually? I'm considering using this addon but found this thread and now I'm not so sure. It doesn't look like the addon has been updated since 2010.

A discussion forum inside the client area is a great idea and it's a shame nobody else has produced a module to compete with WHMCSBB - I think they'd do very well.

well i have this working on my site eventually after messaging the developer at many of his know sites as you get no joy from the WHMCSBB clientarea as your tickets will be closed within 48 hrs without response and no updates or replies in his own forum.

But overall it works well within WHMCS
