durangod
Hi i have been searching google and other places like this forum for awhile now looking how to offer the $50 Adwords coupon on my site. Do i need to join a special google service or be some kind of distributor to do this? I have several google accounts, but i have no idea how to get a widget or what i need to be able to offer the coupon to my hosting clients. In my search i found alot of non google url offering stuff but i want the coupon to come straight from google not a third party. Any help will be appreciated thanks. PS if you happen to have information on the yahoo+bing free add credits that would be nice too, thanks. durangod
OK folks just got off of chat with opensrs support, bless them for having chat up and running at this hour . Here is the scroop on the Adwords deal. First if you do not see it on your offers listing there is a reason for that. Here is their reply from opensrs support: start reply When we launched the HMS offers, the product management/developers decided to do away with the approval process. Instead, if your account meets their criteria to offer these services, you'll be approved automatically. end reply So there is no longer a button to request approval. What they had me do is to send an email to tucows (he gave me the internal email address but im not sure i should put it on here i dont want them to get spammed ya know) but all you have to do is ask opensrs and im sure they will give it to you. And so i requested approval to offer adwords coupons to my clients and i hope to hear back from them. Tech support told me they didnt see anything on my opensrs account that would keep me from seeing the offer and they were surprised it was not there. So i guess maybe if there is some flaw in there new routine maybe this will help fix a bug, who knows. I will keep you posted on their reply. Aleast now we know. But i wish opensrs would have been good enough to put out a notice on their blog or someplace, maybe they did. Ill keep you all posted. durangod
Ok got approved today and read thru the documentation and the rules. So many rules and regulations wow. They even tell you that you have to have 25px between their logo and anything else lol.. I wonder what would happen if you only had 24 ooooooo you be in big trouble mister lol.... I thought what i would do since im a virgin advertiser here that i would keep it simple at first. From what i understand they require you to: 1. Send out at least one email a year to your customers talking about adwords . 2. Advertise on your client area 3. Maintain a basic adwords advertising page that you create in accordance with there rules. So here is my thought, i went to a couple of the big boy sites today and checked out their adds and how they offer it, of course i understand they may have a special agreement with Google because they have deep pockets but i thought i would use that as a guide. First can anyone offer any advice as to the best way to keep it simple and not become more of a headache than its worth? Also can anyone provide some samples of how some of us smaller companys advertise it just to give me a better idea of whats legal and accepted? Is there a place in whmcs that is designed for this coupon and can provide the code to the customer or is it better to just do it manually? My game plan is to have a link in the specials with some brief text, the briefer the better, the less words i say the more likely i am not to violate their tos. Be very direct and to the point. Then put up a small screen capture screen (if legal) of the adwords page (wish i knew where i could get an official landing page for adwords that i could use as a capture and just set up a link to that page. Something they use for their advertising that most advertisers just link to, but i guess just the adwords home page is enough. I would also like to do a few adwords vids that are available. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Guess i better get out my handy pixel ruler lmao Edited April 10, 2012 by durangod

durangod
Well so much for all the work on this, google just ended the opensrs program as of april 30 2012, and all codes will expire june 30, 2012. I guess F..... google is gonna try to force us to take that stupid long ass bs they call certified partner bs. I wonder if this happened because one of you certified partners that read this thread didnt like the fact that i got the coupons my way and you are so petty you complained to google. If that is the case your so petty, and so wrong in doing that. We were no threat to you, the fact that your a certified partner you have a leg up on those of us that are not. You also have and perform a different role than us. You are able to train people on google adwords and that is great. All we wanted to do was offer the credit and let them go to google for training. But i guess your so petty you cant even allow us a tiny bit of comfort in the business. I guess you can justify your dirty tricks and underhanded "im gonna tell google cause its not fair" attitude in your own way but you know what thats ok. I dont care how you justify it. If you are so petty you cant even allow us small companies to compete then that says alot about your business practice, your character, and your lack of faith in what you offer. Whatever im not wasting my time with google bs anymore, and i certainly will not ever recommend any of my clients use google adwords EVER!! All they want to do is make me take this program so that they can make money off me in the process. I hope google goes belly up one day, i will LMAO when it does. To those opensrs customers that used this program, i tend to think this is my fault. If i had not asked the question in the first place trying to learn something and had just left it alone maybe they would not have done so. For that i am very very sorry, and i feel bad about that. But how was i do know this would happen. Edited April 12, 2012 by durangod
JoshDylan
Easy fix right here, go to http://www.google.com/ads/engage and join that. Then one you get started to you can apply to become a Google Certified Partner.
durangod
@randall173, forgive me but we know that already, it appears you have not been following along in the email replys. Or maybe your here just to spam the board me thinks. I am up for starting a patition online and forcing google to give back the opensrs program, if anyone is with me.
