9DollarDomains
Hi. I'm looking for a way to have a customer's account pop-up as soon as they call via their Caller-ID information. Ideally, it should be a network application (or a hardware device I guess) so that any desk with a tech 'on call' could have it automatically pop-up.
laszlof
That actually has very little to do with WHMCS, and more to do with what phone application/appliance you're using. I did something simular at a previous job, unfortunately the actual functionality to make it work is going to vary greatly depending on the phone platform.
9DollarDomains
Hi. Thanks - I know there are hardware devices such as this (http://www.possystem.ca/hospitality-restaurant-pos-systems-in-calgary/140-point-of-sale-caller-id-module.html) that can be watching the phone line for the caller ID info, but as far as I knew - the program (WHMCS) would have to be watching for that info and pop-up the account. We used to use a program called 'Retail Profit Minder' a couple decades ago that did this. I'm not sure if WHMCS would be easy, since it's a Web Browser - but perhaps it could have a certain 'waiting for a call' page to go to, and it could then watch the serial port for the caller-id info... I don't really know...
laszlof
Just thought of something else actually. I was going to implement this for another client but the project never left the ground. http://www.twilio.com/ They have a service that lets users call in and be prompted much like most customer service numbers have. In this prompt, you could request something like a customer ID, or a ticket number. You can then use the twilio API to send the info to a script. That script can be used to push notifications to logged in admins, and redirect them to the customer details. Obviously there would be a lot of coding involved to make it work, but its certainly possible and probably going to be the most affordable solution that is platform agnostic. EDIT: the phone number they're calling from is available via the API as well, so you could potentially add that to the api call to the script running on whmcs to direct it.
tripler
We are currently integrating Twilio into one of our products under development, its a very powerful platform. Perhaps we can release something for WHMCS users if someone else does not get to it first =)
othellotech
Why not just get your PBX to read the WHMCS DB ?
