GORF
... I do not see it in the sitemap. I have multiple licenses - owned, leased and webhost-issued. All of a sudden, my webhost-issued licenses stopped working. I contacted them and was told WHMCS said they do not comply with the reseller TOS. I would like to see this TOS for myself.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted November 15, 2011 WHMCS CEO Share Posted November 15, 2011 You'll need to contact us privately via ticket to discuss any issues with your reseller but there is no reseller TOS. Matt
GORF
...but there is no reseller TOS. Matt Let's just say that [insert name here] wants to become a reseller. Where is the agreement form or TOS or whatever you want to call it. It should be a publicly accessable document.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted November 15, 2011 WHMCS CEO Share Posted November 15, 2011 It's not something we make publically accessible but the basic rule is any company authorized to resell/provide WHMCS licenses may only do so in conjunction with another service, typically hosting, and not sell licenses as a standalone item. And that once provided, the license may only be used within their hosting network and not outside on third party services. Matt

Nathanael
Hi: I think the TOS is too restrictive. For example i sell whmcs addons and have a deep knowledge of whmcs structure so i can also give support to my clients but to sell whmcs license i have to attach them to a hosting service i cant even sell the license with my whmcs addons.... In my opinion to restict it to only your hosting services have no sense. Best regards
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted November 26, 2011 WHMCS CEO Share Posted November 26, 2011 The reseller program is intended to be restrictive. We can't have everybody selling WHMCS licenses publically to anybody who wants one, that will only lead to price wars, and ultimately less profitability for everyone. To be able to continue developing and improving WHMCS like we do currently, we need users to purchase licenses from us directly. The reseller program simply exists for web hosts to be able to bundle WHMCS as a value added product along with their reseller hosting services, both helping them to attract more users, and us likewise by way of promotion. Nathanael
Well you can ask for higher requirements to become reseller as cpanel do for example(like a one time fee and a minimun of 300 USD in licenses a month) or even do not give support to resellers licenses. Whmcs isnt exactly a hosting addon anymore although it was created for that purpose. About war prices, thats something that will happen always, but clients will choose the partner with better support. Open market will give you promotion, promotion will give you more earnings and earnings will allow you to hire more stuff to develope faster. I dont want to see whmcs bought by a big corporation like Parallels and become an expensive, full of bugs or dead piece of software like others have done (hsphere, modernbill) . Im not complaining, its just my point of view.
