sounds
Hi, Is there any instructions/turorials on intergrating WHMCS with Joomla. I searched around and found jwhmcs but that's 120 $ for a license. I'd like to do it myself and learn from it. And do you install both joomla & whmcs on the same database when intergrating them? Thanks later
0 Brett
So are you wanting the users database to stay in sync with WHMCS or are you wanting to sync WHMCS to joomla? What is it that you are trying to accomplish?
0 sounds
Hi, I'd want to combine them, so people would be logging into joomla as normal but the WHMCS would be part of joomla, i imagen i would build the store in joomla with features from WHMCS. I don't know how it's done, i don't mind paying for WHMCS but paying another 120$ to intergrate them That's a whole different job, customizing so you have a working joomla cms and whmcs intergrated store. Spending all that time and $ and then relizing you've taken on more than you can handle, i don't wanna go there, still hope to do the job myself. If i just wanted the store and only users that are logged in are customers then i guess i would just use whmcs with some templates? but to include some kind of community where members could use the store and still interact with te community, i'd use either joomla, or wordpress, preferably joomla. Can intergrate with wordpress for 20$ but joomla intergration is 120$ for that tool. Edited September 7, 2011 by sounds
0 Brett
If you are looking to have a store integrated into a shopping cart, I might be able to help. There is a shopping cart called CS-Cart. Do a google search and it will be the first one. I can sell you a module that will sync all the user data to whmcs. You would then edit your template to point back the CS-Cart for changing the password and user information. Basically, when the user signed up, or changes any of the information in CS-Cart, it sends that data along to WHMCS via the API. I mainly use WHMCS as a business portal where I can charge business and create quotes. I rarely use it for the hosting side of things. But it works really well for me. I am not sure your situation, but you need to make sure that you need them integrated. If you are just using WHMCS's cart, then there is no reason to have the two integrated. You just need to have the templates changed to match the site and logins pointed to WHMCS. I use CS-Cart as the main user repository and this allows me to authenticate WHMCS, Kayako and recently Invision Power Board to the main site. From the sounds of it, you need to make sure of what you want before you spend any money. There be some deep rabbit holes in these areas.
0 sounds
This sounds more confusing than i expected. My intension was to have a joomla community setup. And built into that would be the store, which i thought was whmcs.
0 Brett
When you say a "Joomla community", what is it exactly that you have in mind? Forums? What is the purpose of Joomla? If you are looking just for a CMS, then you would just want to change templates, but if you are looking just for forums, then get some dedicated forum software. You need to be 100% clear on what it is that you want. I can do amazing things with integrations, and I can at least point you in the right direction on what it is you can do. What do you have pictured?
0 sounds
Jooml.org it's a complete content managment system, so you build a website community with it. Then they intergrate whmcs into that, i didn't think you would need a shopping system also. I thought this whmcs was a complete package but apparently it's just the billing platform.
0 Brett
Yes, WHMCs is a complete billing and support system geared for web hosting companies. You are hooked on this idea of Joomla however. Forget Joomla and forget about WHMCS. What is the website you are picturing? I know joomla well and understand what it is but what is the community aspect of the site? What are you selling? What modules would you use in joomla? What do you want?
0 sounds
I think you're right, maybe i should just focus on the store for this project. I'm renting shoutcast streams and maybe i will use whmcs to automate cpanel sales also. I supose it's better to keep it just for the store so the only logged in users would most likely be customers. On the other hand, having joomla as part of this will allow anyone to login even if they don't purchase somehing. I just felt it would be easier to customize joomla then add in the whmcs system and construct a store.
0 brianmurphy
To integrate the joomla user system with the whmcs logins, $120 for jwhmcs is well spent. You will spend weeks learning how to do it yourself and no developer would touch doing a one off solution at that price for you. Getting joomla and whmcs integrated is just the start of the project. Customizing both into what you envision as your final service will take a good amount of time. Focus your efforts there. jwhmcs hasn't been all smooth sailing for me but it has allowed me to focus on other issues necessary to launch my site and develop my business.
0 sounds
So it would be cheaper to intergrate wordpress with whmcs and then add a shopping cart. Not sounding like a complete solution to me, not only do i need whmcs, but i have to decide if i want to intergrate it with joomla, wordpress or other, then when i have all that done i have to figure out how to build a decent store/shopping system around whmcs. hmmm The other option would be to just use whmcs and one of the available store templates?
