Email templates

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Two questions with probably obvious answers that I have overlooked:

1. Quoting the manual:

The basic template syntax can be seen by looking at the templates. All pages have specific variables which you can use. To view a complete list of variables available on a page, enter the following command into the template file:

{debug}

How and where do I add {debug} for it to work to view a list of variables available in an email template? I've added to {debug} into code when I edit a template but it all it does is display {debug}.

or is this actually referring to editting the raw .php files that are residing in the web directory?

2. How can I edit the value of the merge fields? I just want to change [signature] from "signature goes here..." to something else.

Thanks.

Correct me if I am wrong:

For No. 1. Smarty templayte engine is required for this debug value to work?

For No. 2, since "signature goes here..." is defined in the DB then I guess each template needs to be updated individually? since people may want use signatures thay cannot be stored in the database?
