20% VAT from Germany? German VAT ID not accepted?

Hello!

 

I live in Germany and am planning to order a monthly lease for WHMCS.

 

I'm wondering about VAT. First, the system wants to charge me 20% VAT, but in Germany the VAT is 19%.

 

Also, I'm running a business and am therefore entitled to deduction of input tax. I have a VAT ID for that, but the system is not accepting it when I try to enter it into the client details ("Invalid VAT number").

 

What can I do to not have to pay 20% U.S. VAT monthly?

After trying to input the VAT ID again just now, the system miraculously accepted it.

Hi,

 

We use the VIES automatic validation system to validate VAT Numbers during signup which can sometimes be unavailable but glad to hear it's all sorted now. We can however usually still manually validate via a ticket though if you're having problems.
