scw
Hello! I am new to WHMCS and could use a bit of guidance in this area I host a very small amount of sites for local clients (less than 30), and would like to establish automatic billing (e.g., quarterly or yearly) with the client's CC's which they provide to me either via phone or in person - not on my website. It doesn't appear that setting-up a merchant account and gateway would be a cost-effective solution (given the amount of accounts). Can someone please provide the best (cost-effective and simple) approach to accomplish auto-billing with or without a gateway? Thank you!
altomarketing
Your problem is not whmcs, is your gateway that let you take payment by phone or person, after that whmcs will be useful

I think I am figuring this out... in my case, where I want to enter customer CC myself as opposed through my website, then do so through a gateway - maybe with virtual terminal mode? Then use WHMCS to keep track of client details, invoicing, etc. - things like that - correct?

That's correct - the gateway handles your transactions and WHMCS handles everything else (as well as your transactions, but it needs a gateway to work with).
