Slow Billing Migration?

ChuckB

Question

I am wanting to do a audit of my current billing system (Modernbill, the eternal thorn in my side) and at the same time slowly move over "clear" accounts to WHMCS - I looked at the conversion, and its a all or nothing style situation, is there any way to make this a "bit by bit" type of thing?

I realize at some level this may seem like a silly idea, but I just want to do some house cleaning and not move everyone over then do it, that and it gives me a chance to let a few customers road-test the new system a bit and get feedback so I can make changes as needed.

Is this possible or anyone have a modified conversion script that'd accomplish this?

TIA,

-CB

So you want to be able to transfer say 10 customers at a time for example? It's not currently possible but I might be able to do something for you.

That would be awesome if you could, I have my test copy running right now and for the second time of trying it, I just love the ease of it all, and the ability for clients to really self administrate at some level, plus between new payment options like Google Checkout, it fits some of the commonly requested things customers want.

Any luck on this option? Granted not a show-stopper, but as it stands, been cleaning up my ol MB install preparing for migration, moving batches of folks would be preferred for data consistency (check batches as added).

If not an "official" solution, has anyone come up with something that does similar but not really an "official" solution?

Hi guys,

After I tried the mb import script, here there are some things that didn't come as expected:

1. Payment Method: all clients after import, got the default whmcs payment method. In other words, clients need manually editing one by one to change the payment method.

2. Taxes have not been calculated after import: Although the total amount was right, it was shown up as non taxable. For example, let's say a client's invoice is total 120€ (100 +20tax = 120 total), after importing was total 120 but tax 0.

3. As script says, all passwords will be regenerated therefore you have to mass mail clients to inform them about their new passwords.

Really #1 & #3 are my main concerns, most accounts I want to simply close out accounts in batches, manually decrypting credit cards and migrating them over to the new system - a bit of leg work, but better than tracking down clients when I have a already valid card on file.

According to the password regeneration there is also another prob. Modernbill mainly use the same password for client area and account access (cPanel). Problem now will be that whmcs changes the client area password which will be emailed to the client, but what about the cpanel password? This one remains the same, the old one.

There's no problem with password regeneration. Clients get a new password but you can just have them request a password reminder when they next want to login if you don't want to email everyone. Payment methods can only be kept with our professional import service.
