When entering an order, what happens next?

NOOB... been reading the documentation with regards to creating orders. Just trying to get things straight.

Created a new client today and manually entered in their credit card info. If I go in and create a new order and approve it, what happens next? Is the order automatically paid using the CC info I already entered? Or does an email go to the customer for which they must re-enter their CC info before it gets paid?

Unless you have a gateway set up to process CC payments, nothing will happen. Adding a CC number to the clients account with no gateway simply stores that in WHMCs. To use it you'd need to then process it manually.

Yes we have a gateway all configured and operational. So if I enter a new order and then approve it... does it just automatically charge the CC? Or is there another step?

Offline cards (stored in WHMCS, hand processed): http://wiki.whmcs.com/Offline_Credit_Card

Cards for automated processors stored locally (and not): http://wiki.whmcs.com/Payment_Gateways

I appreciate the links to your documentation, but I've already read all that. Your links address how to setup a merchant gateway... already got all that working.

I need more clarification.

It's not *my* documentation, I'm just a user here. ;)

If it's in the system and the customer is set to use that gateway, and the card is in that account, as far as I know it should process automatically. It's not the method I use, so I don't know for certain.
