We offer a one week trial, which works well... it certainly helps sales.

However I learned that "some" IP addresses keep popping up time and again, with slightly different names/addresses/e-mail addresses. I have no idea why people would want to keep registering for a self-destructing account, and it doesn't really effect the rest, but it just puzzles me.

Is this common, or just a weirdo with too much time on their hand? And, I guess this is my actual question, is there an easy way to check on duplicate IP signups in WHMCS?

Thanks :D

You may find that they're signing up and using the account to either send spam or to launch automated attacks on other sites. You'd be better off blocking these IP's from your network altogether.

A whois on the IP will tell you from region in the world where they're coming from.

Thanks Damo, problem is I only found out about it by sheer accident.

They signed UP twice with a different IP address (from different countries which they indicated correctly, and Maxmind let them through in both cases). There would have been no way of telling that way. Lord knows how many times over they did sign up... I don't really keep track of all visitors.

But, then they signed IN twice in a row with the new IP address, judging from the latest client activity, which at least enabled us to connect two bogus accounts!

I'm not sure how to prevent that yet, except perhaps make prospective customers answer a few questions before actually creating their trial account.
