Hello,

Yes - WHMCS does support MySQL 5.5. We have online documentation regarding our System Requirements which answers this:

Regards,

Hi WHMCS Chris,

So, if im installing a new WHMCS on a new server you recommend me to go with MySQL 5.5, correct? Its a more updated, secure and reliable MySQL version to work with WHMCS, correct?

Thanks

I would almost always recommend running the latest version of any software as long as it's published as a STABLE release. So short answer, yes - run MySQL 5.5.

@WHMCS Chris: Once again thanks for your advice. But in my case there is just one problem: i have already installed WHMCS on my server running MySQL 5.1 two days ago. So my question to you is if i now can safely update on my server, the MySQL from 5.1 to 5.5 without causing any problems to WHMCS.. or will making this update will bring problems to the actual WHMCS installation?

Thanks

Hello,

If you check MySQL's documentation, they state that users should have no problem with their databases when upgrading in minor versions. As any time you're making an update to a major software, you should backup the data that is involved in the update, ie: MySQL Databases. However you should be fine.

you will have no problems upgrading while still running WHMCS.

If you have root access and a root WHM it is a simple click

  • Home »
  • Software »
  • MySQL Upgrade

then chose MySQL 5.5 and click next and follow instructions
