bear
Dynamic graphics library. Creates images "on the fly" when needed. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=GD+Image+Library&btnG=Google+Search This explains it somewhat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GD_Graphics_Library
Replicada
does this endure a rebuild of apache ? Cheers for the support bear.
bear
Essentially, you recompile PHP to include support for this (provided the proper libraries are installed), and as long as you include the same flags when rebuilding, it keeps working.

bear
I'm running Cpanel servers, and it's dirt easy using "/scripts/easyapache". Long way from compiling from source and fixing dependencies.
ozzie
GD ? Im very new to this sort of thing.. Hey Replicada, For a lot of us this is all very new but we keep on learning. (without learning, life would be very boring I think) If you have not already got it, you might want to upload a little php program containing <?php phpinfo() ?> I have called mine phpinfo.php and found it very handy to check script requirements. Hopefully you will see something like this when you run it. gd GD Support enabled GD Version bundled (2.0.28 compatible) GIF Read Support enabled GIF Create Support enabled JPG Support enabled PNG Support enabled WBMP Support enabled XBM Support enabled Although this won't solve your current issue of course, it might help in analyzing some problems. Cheers, Ozzie

brianoz
quick tip: recommend you don't leave phpinfo.php around as automated scanners use it to find information about your apache installation that you probably don't want them to find!
Replicada
Still struggling on the upgrade of my Apache build, SSH didnt work. As easyap[ache only allows you to repack apache with its modules. I want to literally upgrade it to 2.0 + any ideas on a Cent OS Dedi..
Host4cheap
If you have cPanel and WHM server, login to WHM. Goto Software / Update Apache Accept the default and also select PHP Version 4.4.4 Curl Curl SSL DOM XSLT GD GetText IMAP Module MB String OpenSSL Support FreeType Support Then click "Start Build" The build will take 10-30 minutes depending on the system.
