rmccny
Recently we completed what may very well be the first WHMCS integration under vBulletin's new CMS product. We started the process by customizing the stock vBulletin template to integrate it with our existing site design as much as possible. The goal was to retain as much of the original vBulletin layout initially to avoid upgrade hassles as I expect the vB team to release frequent upgrades until the product has matured. Eventually we may take our design alterations further. The entire process took much longer than anticipated and was filled with unexpected problems including numerous bugs within vB itself (I believe I've submitted 6 bug reports so far), vB HTML that would not validate, incompatibilities with vBSEO, problems switching vBulletin between HTTP/HTTPS, general differences in vBulletin and WHMCS internal architecture, and a delayed vBulletin 4.0.2 upgrade. The process also required that essentially every WHMCS template had to be edited to use absolute URLs, which is a good idea for SEO anyhow. An actionhook was created to initialize vBulletin and correct some URLs within vB templates and a little php code was added to convert the WHMCS breadcrumb into something that vBulletin would understand. I also extensively re-designed Sparky's clientarea home page template plus made a few tweaks to the WHMCS stylesheet to convert the portal theme from fixed to fluid width. At this point, I believe that most of the bugs have been worked out although in my opinion, there is still much room for improvement, both in the integration work we've done so far and in vBCMS itself.
