ChrisB
Hello all I was wondering if there was anyone that could help me out with an ISP and server issue I have................ I am in the UK and have ditched BT completely now and connect to the internet via 3g Mobile access, in 3's wisdom on an attempt to cut down spam on their serves they have blocked smtp access to port 25, port 587 is open as an alternative but sadly doesn't work with my server for soem unknown reason, my server support people have opened port 465 and set the relevant firewall rule for me but I need to setup something called "port forwarding" in order to make it work. I have searched Mr Google but cant find anything that is not "too" technical, so I was wondering if there were any kind people on here that could supply me with an idiots guide to doing this so I can make my own email work rather than forwarding it through my ISP's server. My server is running Cent OS 5 and I have full root access the firewall is already done I just need a little help with this port forwarding stuff. If anyone has encountered this before and knows of a better solution please feel free to tell me I ould really appreciate it Thanks in advance Chris

penguin
What firewall are you using for your server? If this is software based, you can quote easily do this with IPTables.
simplybe
Hi, I use 3 mobile as a backup and send mail over port 26 without any problems. If you are running a cpanel/whm server port 26 is an option in exims config
brianoz
yes its pretty much trivial with cpanel - what control panel are you using?
