ChrisB
Hello I am a small UK host mainly work in own local area, the hosting is a "necessary evil" as I am primarily a web and graphic designer, I have loads of experience with Paypal through some Ebay activities and hate them with a passion again a "necessary evil" on EBay but not in the real world, so my question is are there any of you who stopped using Paypal at any stage and if so did you notice a "drop" in user confidence and also sales? This s a new project for me to produce "cheaper" more template based websites but again I am assuming most of my work will come from my local area, if I can pick up other internet fed work then all the better but if I can get away with not using Paypal then all will be rosy in the garden so to speak lol Thanks in advance Chris

I have looked at other alternatives to paypal as i dont like the way they operate and their policies seem to benefit fraudster rather than genuine users, but paypal seem to have the monopoly, most likely as it is owned by ebay and is the only method ebay will allow, so everyone and their grandmother uses paypal, stopped it once, sales etc dropped. the only advantage with paypal is charges and the subscription service. Nochex is good, but with nochex if thier service is not used by your customers then they will close your account without telling you.
openmind
We have always used SagePay as our primary processor. A couple of years ago we added PayPal as a secondary gateway and noticed sales went up by about 10% They are fine as a secondary gateway but I would try and avoid using them alone...
ChrisB
Thanks for the replies much appreciated, it is as I thought it would be only a small increase or reduction in sales so for now Google Checkout will be my main with maybe Nochex as a secondary would rather stay away from Paypal if possible, I have had some horrendous experiences with them in the past and definately dont want any more. Thanks again Chris
othellotech
so my question is are there any of you who stopped using Paypal at any stage and if so did you notice a "drop" in user confidence and also sales? Our PayPal last year only accounted for ~4% of online payments (count) and under 1% of total (amount), so other than a few resellers who themselves only take PP (so want to pay by that method) no-one would notice...
ChrisB
Thanks for your reply I appreciate that I know in some sectors Paypal can make a big difference to sales glad to see it doen't apply to this lol May even go down the WorldPay route later this year depends how many orders I am processing I suppose, my main reason for using Google Checkout is I am planning on doing a small Adwords campaign mainly to target Wales, the nice little checkout logo on the AD really makes it stand out from the rest Thanks again Chris
DF-Duncan
We refuse to take Paypal for payments as they appear to be (at times) a law unto themselves.
simplybe
Our primary processor is worldpay but last year started to accept paypal as an option through worldpay. Users choosing to use paypal over worldpay less than 5%. been using worldpay for 6 yearsand never had any major issues, very reliable.
WebHost.lk
We use 2CO as primary processor and satisfy with the way they handle orders. occasionally there was few delays for fraud check results (not more than 12 hrs) and it is understandable. No real issues in last 3 years and reliable service with good customer care department. Also 2CO use PP as a payment option on their gateway
SingleOS
I can make a suggestion which would work good for you guys. There is a very friendly U.S. merchant provide called Noca. it is cheaper than PayPal, but unfortunately it does work only in the U.S. market. Call them and tell them you need to use their services in the UK. I don't think it is big issue fro them to launch a UK service or to allow UK users to join their system.
